According to a report on WrestleZone.com, Vince Russo has been replaced as the head writer for TNA. Former WWE creative team member Dave Lagana is said to be handling Russo's duties from this point forward. Lagana wrote the following messages on Twitter this afternoon:

"And we are off and running."

"The calm before the storm."

Since joining TNA, Lagana has been involved with the company's Ring Ka King promotion. It's being reported that he is backstage at Against All Odds while Russo is not there.

Stay tuned for more details.
Wasn't Lagana a SD writer? Can't remember for sure but guess maybe it can be an improvement or the start of one.

He was a SD writer PHX. If it's true, then good luck to Lagana.

Russo probably still with the company will just have a lesser role or something. Doubt WWE would hire him back anyways if he was done with TNA.

Russo's still with TNA, at least for the time being.

PWInsider said:
In regard to rumors that began making their way around the Internet today, here is the deal:

Dave Lagana is not replacing Vince Russo on the TNA Creative Team. Lagana is at tonight's Against All Odds PPV and is "helping out", according to one top placed source in the company. Lagana was hired by the company last year specifically to work on Ring Ka King and other potential new series, not the Impact brand. He is at the PPV helping to produce backstage segments.

Vince Russo is not at the PPV and while there are some in the company that believe he is gone, nothing has been announced to the TNA roster or staff. Sources I spoke to either declined to comment or weren't aware of what Russo's situation was. "Nothing has been said officially to anyone," according to one person who was in today's production meetings.

Russo was not the head of Creative. Bruce Prichard had and still has that title. That said, the title being moved to Prichard was something of a cosmetic change anyway with the feeling that fans would give the Impact series a fresh chance. In recent months, the team of Russo and Matt Conway had been writing scripts for Impact. The scripts then went to Bruce Prichard for tinkering and then Eric Bischoff would put his own feedback in during production meetings at the Impact Wrestling tapings and PPVs. While it's often presented as if Bischoff is involved in the day to day of creative, the reality is that as "Executive Producer", he never sees the scripts until the day of the tapings and is often asking questions about where characters and stories stand and are going. Prichard is more involved in the actual process but until recently, the scripts were Conway and Russo.

So, ignoring rumors, that is where everything stands.

Well hopefully this is the right decision for TNA to make in order to turn their product around, because when the big companies are at their best, the fans are the ones who profit the most.

Rumours now that Russo was fired a couple of days ago.

Lagana used to write for Smackdown years ago but then worked for ROH for quite a bit before signing on for Ring Da King. He is moving up the ranks quickly over at TNA if he can get on the main writing team so soon. Right move by TNA to get rid of Russo, he had good ideas but without a filter (Vince) he is no good.

He's been a bit of a scapegoat anyway though.

TNA was awesome in 2010, yet is so boring lately.

Could do with some of his wacky ideas to liven shit up.

Before Russo, Hogan and Bischoff, TNA was actually a decent product with great in-ring wrestling. I remember ordering PPVs and it once was on a whole another level. All I'm trying to say is TNA hasn't ALWAYS been this bad.

Yea I'll agree with that, although I would say 2009 is when the product really started going down hill. The storylines were never the greatest but they could always fall back on the in ring product.

Bottom line is they need focus in creative, a lot of times it seems they just put people on TV to get them on TV without any really direction. The roster is to big and there's 2 many people they feel need to get airtime. Think part of the problem is that Dixie and Spike pull a lot of the strings and weekly ratings and getting the "big names" on tv becomes the focus and takes away from better things they could do.

Heyman had it right when he wanted to come in, he wanted to keep just one big name and then build the company around them with new stars, a overhaul is what they need and I doubt this is it, just more patch work.

Dixie's said officially he's gone.

"TNA and Vince Russo have mutually parted ways as of this week. The separation is amicable and professional. We are glad for the opportunity to have worked together and wish each other nothing but good luck and success in the future."
