Rumor: reported match for SummerSlam

The date of Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar III has been revealed.

With their head-to-head series tied at one win a piece, the rubber match is currently planned for SummerSlam on Saturday, August 5. Our own Dave Meltzer revealed the news on Monday morning's edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.

"Got big news. Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes is SummerSlam," Meltzer said.
"SummerSlam, Ford Field. Match number three," he continued.

Rhodes won the first match between the two at WWE Backlash on May 6 in Puerto Rico. He would then go into their second match at Night of Champions with a storyline broken arm after an attack by Lesnar on Raw. The injury proved too much for Rhodes and he lost via referee stoppage after passing out while Lesnar had him locked in an arm bar.

WWE SummerSlam 2023 is set for Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, August 5. According to WrestleTix, 40,231 tickets have been distributed to the event.

This is going to be good and I hope the stipulation match makes sense for this feud. I never thought I would like this feud. However, I love it. These two have had good encounters. Excited for their third match.

As far as it being Brock’s swan song….

I don’t think Brock will officially retire until his body tells him that he can’t go anymore. Very much a Taker like retirement.

And I think him working 3-4 times a year at this pace, he’s got 3-4 more years left in him

No? I seen Cody get punked plenty enough times to be able to imagine him saying I Quit and then taking 25 minutes to leave the ring whimpering
