Today in wrestling history: In 1989, WWE presented the first Royal Rumble pay-per-view event (actually the second ever Royal Rumble event, but the first one on PPV). Big John Studd won the match after throwing out Ted DiBiase. Highlights of the match were Demolition partners Ax and Smash duking it out as the first two entrants, and Hulk Hogan throwing out Randy Savage, causing a major rift between the Mega-Power teammates.
