She is nothing compared to Brock obviously, but she is probably one of the 3-4 most recognizable female athletes on the planet atm and would be the closest thing to a draw in the divas division. I don't know that she would draw money, but I definitely think a lot of her MMA fans, particularly newer MMA (female) fans who are mainly just Rousey marks, would tune in to see her at say Summerslam or Mania in a match or even just an advertised segment. Don't underestimate WWE's desire to tap into 8,000 different demographics. They want all types of fans, getting females to watch can be tricky.

I hadn't heard anything about her almost signing a deal, not sure how that would work when she is under contract with the UFC.

Time is no issue. I was actually one of the few who shit on her Mania segment, didn't appeal to me, but if they hadn't wasted it on her and Rock they would have wasted it on something else. People have to accept that Mania is 4 hours long and it isn't so they can have a bunch of half hour matches
I guess that's true.. she would draw more attention than the divas division itself.

It was like a few weeks ago just before she signed her new UFC contract last week, it was set to expire.

WWE/UFC need to work together on some contracts. It would have been perfect for Brock. UFC signs Brock to a contract while allowing him to work for WWE, gives him a stylistically easy fight to win, they make huge money, WWE gets to point to this and talk about how Brock is the baddest around, Brock gets to do both things he is great at + make twice the coin. Ronda, same thing but in reverse. Whereas Brock is the WWE guy fighting in the UFC occasionally, Ronda is the UFC fighter who can have some matches in the WWE. Hell, book her against men. That is something that has been discussed to death in hypotheticals by MMA/sports fans, so WWE booking her against a male competitor would likely draw.

Yh this would be the contract made in heaven. Anyway Brock's closed the door on MMA. (I think's it's for good.)

I'd be down for a joint deal, that would have potential to draw viewers & money for both companies, do some cross advertising as well.. As for male opponents, I agree 100% I could see Ronda going against the likes of all the current jobbers.

Brock opens doors based on the financial implications. I maintained all along that he wasn't returning to the UFC when most were speculating he might, but if the dollars are there he will do it.

And again, the UFC could give him someone with poor TDD that he could maul and it would be relatively low risk for Lesnar + a MASSIVE payday for UFC. Lesnar vs Complete Unknown still probably outdraws literally ANY other match the UFC could realistically put on. Jones vs Cormier did like 700k, Brock vs Nobody probably does closer to 1 million

Guess I'll post this here...

On last night's episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that the WWE's tentative plans for UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey involve her working a singles match with Stephanie McMahon.

Following Rousey's WrestleMania segment, many speculated that Rousey could possibly team with Furious 7 co-star The Rock to work a mixed tag team match with McMahon and husband Triple H. Another scenario saw The Rock and Triple H competing in a singles match with McMahon and Rousey in their corner.

While these are the plans, there are several factors to even getting Rousey in the ring. Her agent revealed last week that as of now, the Rousey-WWE deal was a one-off performance with no other obligations to fulfill. UFC as an organization would also have to provide her clearance to compete in a match. They did in fact clear her for the angle at WrestleMania.

UFC talents getting cleared for outside projects isn't unheard of, as several UFC contracted fighters have been approved to compete in the Metamoris grappling events promoted by the Gracies. Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett also got clearance to work a professional wrestling match in Japan last year, and Rousey's partner Shayna Baszler also appeared for ROH last month. Light Heavyweight "Filthy" Tom Lawlor was pulled from several planned ROH dates, however.

I wouldn't mind seeing her and Stephanie in a match, but it had better be a completely one-sided beat down where Ronda has plenty of opportunities to end the match early but she decides to keep dishing out the punishment on Stephanie instead before finally putting her away (think Bret spending several minutes on end demolishing Vince at WM26.) Because otherwise, seeing Rousey actually sell a huge amount of offense for STEPHANIE MCMAHON, even in a scripted fight, would just annoy me.

I can't see Dana White allowing this match to happen, though. He has too big of an ego to let another promotion make money off one of his biggest stars while they're still simultaneously working for him (understandable point of view, really... Vince would be the same way if the roles were reversed.) An example of this is WWE wanting Brock Lesnar to come and work a one-match deal against the Undertaker at WM27 in 2011, but Dana wouldn't allow it to happen as long as he was under contract.

Top 3-4? I can't name one even close to her in star power or drawing ability.

You won't agree of course, but you know I'm all for Steph's nuclear heel heat being used to get the girls on the roster over. Who's even got one over on her? Vickie? People would LOVE to see Steph get her ass kicked.

Shoot if you want to push the Divas division you could have them beat up Rousey in theory. But of course most people will just call bullshit on that

WWE would be a severe step down for Rousey, so she's doing this just for sh*ts.
She's already got a movie career going. Any smart person would use WWE as a stepping stone
As for the money, pay her. She's already doing segments with the Rock. She's above literally 99% of the male roster.

Don't bother aligning her with Divas. Have her roll out and twist Tyson Kidd in a knot. It would effectively be the biggest rub that cat ever had.

As far as fighting goes, there is none more relevant then ronda, but as far as female athletes in general goes, I can easily see Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova being ahead of her.

lololol having a "WWE Diva" beat up Ronda Rousey would be bad for everyone. Nobody would buy it and they may as well close the doors on the divas division the next day after that corny shit.

You wouldn't script Dolph Ziggler to beat LeBron James 1 on 1 in basketball.

I'm telling you guys, people talk about Ronda vs men TO NO FUCKING END. If WWE were smart they would find a way to book an angle where she is beating men. Female fans would eat that shit right the fuck up.

If people still make the "Ronda vs 'insert lightweight boxer here" to this day then they would really buy Ronda beating up any under 6 feet man not named Daniel Bryan

It would be gold to have Slater spreading shit, then have Ronda beat the crap outta him.
