McDaniel won the US title on August 8th 1981 in Greensboro, North Carolina from Roddy Piper. He vacated the title in September 1981 when he was injured by Abdullah The Butcher. He won his 2nd title from Sgt. Slaughter on May 21st 1982 in Richmond, Virginia. He lost the title back to Slaughter on June 7th 1982 in Greenville, South Carolina due to being injured by Don Muraco and Roddy Piper. He won his 3rd US title from Slaughter on August 22nd 1982 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He lost the title to Greg Valentine on November 4th 1982 in Norfolk, Virginia. He won his 4th title from Ricky Steamboat on June 24th 1984 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He vacated the title do to interference from Tully Blanchard in his title win in July 1984. He won his 5th US title by defeating Manny Fernandez in a tournament final for the vacant belt on October 7th 1984. He lost the title to Magnum T.A. on March 23rd 1985 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Barry Windham

Windham defeated Nikita Koloff in a tournament final on May 13th 1988 in Houston, Texas to win the vacant title. He lost it to Lex Luger on February 20th 1989 at Chi-Town Rumble.

I went McDaniel but this was another close call. On the one hand he had muti-reigns and constantly had great matches and feuds, but then again holding the title five times in four years is a bit too much maybe, but then you have Windham who had a very good reign, but it was just the one and maybe it was not a career defining moment for him. Both were great champions however.

This is tough as I don't know that much about either guy. In the end I went with Windham for his one long title reign.

Went Wahoo. He is one of the most underrated talents ever and was a very good athlete for his size and a very believable character. Any more votes in the final three hours, or will we have a tie?
