We are kicking things off with two former World Champions. One of these two competitors may have not won a World Title in WWE but he won World Titles outside of WWE, where the highlight of his career was in WCCW.

#1 Hulk Hogan

vs.

#66 Kerry Von Erich

I voted Hogan because in my eyes he is the obvious choice. While Kerry Von Erich was working in his family owned WCCW, Hulk Hogan was selling out arenas and being the top draw in the WWF at the time.

For the way this is set up I am going to vote for each one based who I would rather see on a show if I was booking it.

Now, technically speaking of course Kerry is a much better athlete and wrestler but he was rather unreliable which is why he spent most of his career in Texas for WCCW with all his drug problems that his whole family had to go through. Hulk Hogan can be said to be unreliable on many terms, too. It's just it's not like he'd be sniffing coke before matches and going out there looking like he could stumble over at any point. So, I am going with Hulk Hogan. He would also draw a much bigger crowd as well which is a plus in this case. However, it won't be the overall factor on my posts or votes for that matter.

Going with Hogan. Even though Von Eric had a solid career in WCCW, he just doesn't top Hogan in any area besides his ring work. Hogan is up there in the top 5 wrestling Icons of all time so he's going to go far in the tournery

Based on ability, I've gone for KVE. Hogan is one of the most charismatic champs ever, but all his matches as a face were the same and by the time he turned heel again in 96, he was on his way out, workrate wise.

Based on pure wrestling, Von Erich has him beat but remember this is overall. Think about this... Everyone in the world knows who Hulk Hogan is, wrestling fan or not. Not a lot of people know who Kerry Von Erich is, even a lot of wrestling fans don't.

I don't think Hogan's name recognition has anything to do with ability. In the "How the TWC Wrestling Tournament works" thread, it states that we "vote for which wrestler would win based on overall ability". On this basis I have to side with KVE.

That is ture. "Overall Ability" KVE wasn't charismatic like Hogan and he wasn't a draw like Hogan. The only thing he was better at was in ring ability. That's it.

Charisma and drawing levels isn't going to win you a match though. I'm not taking them into account as I don't think they're relevant in terms of actually wrestling a match. At getting fans to watch the match, yes, but once it gets in the ring, KVE has this all day long.
