Former WWE Star Rosey Passes Away At The Age Of 47
The wrestling world has lost yet another star as Matthew “Rosey” Anoa’i has passed away at the age of 47. Several of Matt’s friends have taken to social media recently to send out their condolences to his family. Although the cause of death has not been confirmed, he was hospitalized back in 2014 due to congestive heart failure.
Matt comes from a prestigious family as Sika Anoaʻi, who competed as one-half of the Wild Samoans is his father, and current WWE star Roman Reigns is also Matt’s brother.
Matt broke onto the WWE scene in 2002 when he teamed up with his cousin Eddie Fatu, who later became Umaga, to form the tag team 3-Minute Warning. The duo worked as enforcers for then Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff. The team was disbanded in 2003 when Eddie Fatu was released from his WWE contract.
Rosey then went on to form a team with The Hurricane who dubbed him “Rosey, the Super Hero in Training” and they quickly became fan favorites. The team went on to defeat La Resistance to win the WWE Tag Team Titles.
After The Hurricane and Rosey broke up there were plans to reunite 3-Minute Warning in 2006, but they never came to fruition.
Matt Anoa’i is survived by his two sons, Jordan Iles and Koa Rodney Anoa’i, and daughter Madison Alani Anoa’i.
