This list i would say is more mainstream friendly and I would say the rankings are perfectly reasonable in that regard.

This list is fucking ridicilous lmao.. How can Roman Reigns be in the top 10? Putting him above Omega literally discredits everything else they have to say.

And when will Wrestling Observer Newslatter publish their awards for this year? PWI is a joke.

This list is kayfabe btw
K then. That’s the only way for Roman to get into top 10.

So is it like "best wrestlers in the world, in kayfabe" or "best wrestlers during the last year"?

Best wrestler in kayfabe. Like, Rollins beat Brock Lesnar twice clean, so he's the best wrestler right now in kayfabe

That's also why Reigns is higher than Omega. What has Omega done this year? Lose to Tanahashi and lose to Jericho. Reigns kayfabe wise though is, well, Reigns. He always wins

And that’s why it’s plain ridicilous ranking wrestlers by keyfabe. The least talented guy could top the best one. In keyfabe, you can make anybody the best no matter how shitty and unskilled he is, just look at guys like Goldberg, Nash, Hogan, Reigns etc. Keyfabe list is probably close to being an exact opposite of the real one, and that’s why PWI sucks. They don’t really conclude anything with those yearly top 500s, not worth looking at it one bit. If it’s keyfabe-based and you’re a wrestling fan, you can already tell who’s where.

SWI Top 10:
1: Okada. After that title reign he's pretty untouchable in credibility
2: Rollins after his win over Le$nar
3: Brock, after the Taker/Cena year
4: Roman Reigns after years of big wins
5: Ibushi. That gutty G1 win means more than almost any belt
6: Adam Cole, current champion on a brand with a ton of credible challengers
7: Ciampa. The guy who seemed like a really hard to beat monster heel. (Only Vince could stop his reign)
8: Gargano, because he struggled to beat the previous 2 but is still NXT's top guy
9: Daniel Bryan. Made a good WWE Champ and is WWE's best heel by a mile but too many tag losses since Mania.
10: Tanahashi. Even with a short lived reign, IWGP Champ at his age is no small feat.

I'd leave a lot of guys off who had subpar years lol

I see this list similar to the ESPN power rankings. They're fun to read and have discussions about but totally meaningless.

It’s fun to see who they think is the best keyfabe-wise and would you agree with them, but still, scripted sport shouldn’t be looked at from this perspective. Wrestling Observer Newslatter is way better than this imo, they look at things outside of the script completely.

I would suggest trying to look at it as not the best, but using the terms of most successful in the past year. Best is subjective.

And personally I like that PWI keeps a bit of kayfabe still alive. There isn't much of that out there and I find it enjoyable.

And beating Lesnar twice in a year with winning the belt each time, it's hard to argue anyone other than Rollins belongs on the top of the kayfabe rankings.

Mainly this list comes out still to draw attention to wrestlers that you might not be familiar with.

Agree to disagree, just because I do miss kayfabe. I miss seeing angles on the show's being used to listen to what people say more so than how they say it. I miss having the championship having the most prestige, instead of (both women's title feuds) being the "most marketable person". I miss Raw and Smackdown having a point beyond collecting checks from USA.

We know who the best wrestlers are (though who knew Moxley would be as great as he's been) so someone being like hey, we care about who wins and loses is cool, too
