I must confess that my teenage brain finds his superhero outfit to be kind of cool. It kinds of give him a unique look without making us forget that he was once a shield member

His ring gear is a heat magnet. Kids won't take his get up seriously enough to warrant a main event face push.
I expect it to change, not unlike HHH's (and JBL's) did. He could main event as a heel in the get up, but I doubt it honestly.
Main event-ing WM in that outfit would be embarrassing and stupid.
Coincidentally, I believe HBK and Rey Mysterio's ring gear looked awful to close the show as well.
