Time for the wrestler of the week.. As I said in my first post of this thread, the plan is to include both current and past ROH wrestlers. This week, we go to a guy who was on the first ROH show, and a man who left Ring Of Honor not too long ago.... This week's wrestler is, The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels.

4v4elqs.jpg

Height and Weight:5'10, 232 pounds
Trained by: Sam Decero, Kevin Quinn and Mike Anthony
Finishing Moves: Last Rites, Angel Wings and Best Moonsaul Ever (BME)
Entrance Theme: Disposable Teens by Marylin Manson
ROH debut: February 23, 2002.
Notable Feuds: Doug Williams, CM Punk, Low-Ki, Samoa Joe.

Christopher Daniels was known as one of the "Founding Fathers" of Ring of Honor, due to being in the company's main show. He wrestled in the main event of the first show, The Era of Honor Begins, in a triple threat match against Low Ki and American Dragon. Daniels lost the match, but refused to shake hands with his opponents, thus breaking the Code of Honor, which at the time stated that all wrestlers must shake hands before and after the match. Because the rest of the show had been following the Code of Honor, this had been considered a particularly disgraceful action. Directly following his decision not to shake hands, Daniels got on the mic and challenged both Low Ki and American Dragon to a Round Robin match, which took place at ROH's second show, the Round Robin Challenge. Daniels won the first match, defeating American Dragon. However, this time, because Daniels won, he forced Dragon to shake his hand. In the next match of the series, Daniels faced Low Ki. Daniels tapped out to the Dragon Clutch, but, just like the first show, Daniels refused to shake hands and stated that he could have beaten Low Ki if he hadn't already wrestled that night. He also said he would not step into the ring again with Low Ki unless the ROH Title was on the line. Daniels made it clear that he was trying to break down Ring of Honor by not following its code. To help him do this, he created The Prophecy.

At Ring of Honor's third show, A Night of Appreciation for Eddie Guerrero, Daniels faced Donovan Morgan. Many people thought Morgan would beat some respect into Daniels, but instead, they showed a mutual respect for each other, and Morgan formed a partnership with Daniels. Daniels earned the right to compete to become the first ROH Champion in a 60 Minute Iron Man Match against Spanky, Doug Williams, and Low Ki. During the match, Daniels managed to pin Low Ki, but due to Iron Man Match rules, Low Ki was still able to win the match. This did not sit well with Daniels, since he lost the match despite the fact he was the only person to be neither pinned nor submitted.

Two months later Low Ki would defend his title against Xavier. During the match, Christopher Daniels, who was also competing in a tournament to crown the first ROH Tag Team Champions with his partner Donovan Morgan, came to the ring. Because of ROH rules, Daniels couldn't touch Low Ki, but he did distract his attention, allowing Xavier to attack Low Ki with a chair. Low Ki would go on to lose Xavier, and following this it was discovered that Xavier was the newest member of The Prophecy. Later that night, Daniels and Morgan would go on to win the Tag Team Title, meaning that The Prophecy held all the titles in ROH.

At Glory By Honor, Daniels faced Doug Williams, and Xavier faced Jay Briscoe, as suggested by his brother Mark. The Prophecy also had plans for Low Ki that night, as they hired Samoa Joe, making his ROH debut that night, to take out Low Ki in the first ever Fight Without Honor. Low Ki would win the match, and shake Joe's hand, which was not what The Prophecy had in mind.

The Prophecy would have many changes, such as Dan Maff and B.J. Whitmer joining, while Xavier and Morgan would leave. The new Prophecy would engage in a bitter feud with the Second City Saints, which would see the temporary end to Daniels' ROH career. In a match with the Saints, Daniels was given the Pepsi Plunge through a table by CM Punk. Daniels would not return for sixteen months, due to being pulled from all ROH shows by Total Nonstop Action as a result of the Rob Feinstein scandel.

At Death Before Dishonor III, Christopher Daniels would make his ROH return, challenging CM Punk for his newly won ROH Title, who was determined to take it to WWE with him. However, Punk refused the challenge. The next show, Sign of Dishonor saw Daniels defeat Punk's stablemate Colt Cabana, despite interference by Punk, who attempted to hit Daniels with a steel chain (he instead hit Cabana, behind Daniels' back). At Fate of an Angel, Daniels would lose thanks to Punk, against the debuting Matt Hardy. Even with this loss, Daniels was granted a title shot at The Homecoming. Daniels and Punk fought back and forth, eventually ending in a one hour time limit draw, just as Daniels hit the Angel's Wings. Redemption, the next ROH show, featured Christopher Daniels, James Gibson, and Samoa Joe challenging CM Punk in a 4 Way Elimination Match for the ROH Title. During the match, Christopher Daniels was covered by Joe. Daniels got his foot on the rope, but Punk knocked it off before the referee could see, and Daniels was eliminated. Daniels tried to get revenge, but ended up accidentally eliminating Samoa Joe.

After this, Daniels would remain a permanent member of the ROH roster. He also made his first appearances in America as Curry Man, starting his match against Shingo Takagi at Dragon Gate Invasion.

On November 25, 2006, Christopher Daniels teamed up with Matt Sydal to win the ROH World Tag Team Championship from Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli. The pair would lose the title on February 24, 2007 when Jay and Mark Briscoe defeated Daniels and Sydal to become three-time ROH World Tag Team Champions. At Good Times, Great Memories on April 28, Daniels went to a twenty minute time-limit draw with Erick Stevens. Following the match, Daniels turned heel and quit the company. It had been his official last night in ROH, due to increased involvement with TNA, but this had been kept quiet.

In addition to his ROH days, Daniels wrestled some matches for WCW and WWF, including a match in WCW where he almost broke his neck after botching an Asai Moonsault. Of course, Daniels is also part of the TNA roster as the leader of the recently reformed XXX faction.

Daniels leaves Ring Of Honor... but not before cutting one hell of a promo!
http://www.dailymotion.com/relevanc...o/x2lj2b_christopher-daniels-leaves-roh_sport

Thoughts on Christopher Daniels: In my opinion, Daniels is probably the most consistent worker in the business today. Rarely, if ever does Daniels have a bad match much less botch a move... its incredible how crips his moves look when he's in the ring. The man did as much as anyone else has done for ROH, and although he never won the ROH World Title, he didn't really need it to get over with the fans. My only problem with Daniels is that he seems to be underrated by some people. Maybe its his size, maybe its the fact he works with TNA, but like I said, Daniels is the most consistent performer in the business today... Here's hoping he can have more match for Ring of Honor.

Be sure to check out his promo where he leaves ROH. Easily one of the best promos i've seen all year. Ranks right up there with Ric Flair bashing Carlito.

This week I profile another former ROH wrestler. Classic Colt Cabana!

67r0i12.jpg

Height and Weight:6'1 and 223 Pounds
Trained by: Danny Dominion,Kevin Quinn and Ace Steel
Finishing Moves:Colt 45, Billy Goat's Curse (Reverse Boston Crab)
Entrance Theme:Copa Cabana (Remix) – Barry Manilow & Kidd Russell
ROH Debut: December 7th, 2002
Notable Feuds:CM Punk, BJ Whitmer, Ace Steel, Homicide, Jimmy Jacobs, Nigel McGuiness

Cabana was trained by Ace Steel and Danny Dominion, alongside CM Punk. He broke into Ring of Honor as Punk's rival before becoming his stablemate in the Second City Saints. Cabana and Punk would later go on to become two–time ROH Tag Team Championship. With Punk becoming a singles star, Cabana would go on to have feuds with Austin Aries and Nigel McGuinness. On August 13, 2005 Cabana defeated Punk in a two out of three falls match in their hometown of Chicago in what was supposed to be Punk's last ROH match before going to WWE.

Between August 2005 and April 2006, Cabana was involved in a very violent feud with Homicide, which featured Cabana being strangled with a metal coat hanger, bleeding from numerous chair shots, having Drāno poured down his throat, being piledriven off the ring apron through a table, and getting his head crushed between a ladder. On April 1, 2006 in Chicago, Colt Cabana finally got his revenge and earned the respect of Homicide after a brutal Chicago Street Fight, which saw the feud settled with a handshake and an embrace.

After his decisive victory against Homicide, Colt Cabana challenged the ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson for the ROH World Championship at Ring of Honor's 100th show on April 22, 2006 in Philadelphia. Danielson would defeat him in less than five minutes. Feeling he lost the match because he had spent the past eight months "brawling" as opposed to wrestling, Cabana redidcated himself. He would eventually earn a rematch against Danielson at Chi-Town Struggle on June 24, though he would once again lose. Cabana received one last shot against Danielson for the ROH World Championship on August 26. The two fought to a 60-minute time limit draw in a two out of three falls match, each wrestler earning one fall.

In October 2006, Cabana was involved in an auto accident with fellow Ring of Honor stars Adam Pearce and Dave Prazak. Cabana was driving from a Ring of Honor event in Dayton, Ohio when he lost control of their car due to the weather conditions. The car was totaled but everyone was wearing seatbelts, which saved their lives. It was initially reported that Cabana had to have a toe amputated, thought in reallity he had only bruised it. Despite the injury, Cabana wrestled the next night in Chicago Ridge, Illinois. Pearce and Prazak also walked away with bruises but were otherwise fine.

On April 3, 2007 it was revealed by the Ring of Honor website that Colton had signed a WWE developmental contract, and would soon leave to begin working for their devolpmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling. At Good Times, Great Memories (named in his honor), held on April 28 in Chicago, Cabana defeated long-time friend and fellow Chicago wrestler Adam Pearce.

Cabana has wrestled for WWE in the past against Matt Hardy, Jim Duggan, Eugene and Umaga. He also wrestled in WSX under the name Matt Classic.

Thoughts on Colt Cabana: Before his feud with Homicide, I had a hard time taking Colt seriously. Usually he would be involved in comedy matches or in lower-card matches. Since his feud with Homicide we saw a more violent, more serious Cabana. He proved that he can flat-out go in the ring. It may not seem like it at first, but Colt is actually a great chain-wrestler who also excels at the European style of wrestling. Although he never won the ROH title, he never needed it to remain one of the most popular wrestlers in ROH history. Now he's in OVW and my guess is once he's called up he'll go to ECW and either feud or team with friend/rival CM Punk. I don't see him winning a World Title, but he'll make a nice addition to the mid-card and will always do what he does best, entertain the masses.

Colt Cabana is definitely one of my favorites, ever. He does amazing promo work. One of my favorites is at Unscripted II, when CM Punk came back. I've had the privelage of meeting him many times, and he is by far the nicest I've ever met.

He truly loves his fans, and he knows without them, he wouldn't be where he is.

Not to mention, he always entertains.

Great, great, wrestler. I can't wait to see him brought up to the main WWE roster.

The wrestler of this week is a man who for a short time was Cabana's tag team partner. Everyone's favorite wrestler/songwirter... Jimmy Jacobs.

4vq9xsm.jpg

Height and Weight: 5'7 170 pounds
Trained by:Joe "El Tejano" Ortega and Frankie the Face
Finishing Moves: Senton, Contra Code
Entrance Theme:Kiss 2 Kill by Jimmy Jacobs
ROH Debut:September 20, 2003
Notable Feuds: Alex Shelley, Delirious, Generation Next, Colt Cabana and BJ Whitmer

Jacobs joined Ring of Honor in 2003 along with rival Alex Shelley whom he'd feud against or occasionally team with early on in Ring of Honor. After Dan Maff left the company as a result of a fallout with his trainer Homicide, Jacobs formed a tag team with Maff's former partner, B.J. Whitmer. On April 2 2005, Jacobs and Whitmer defeated Samoa Joe and Jay Lethal for the vacant ROH Tag Team Championship. They lost the title to The Carnage Crew on July 9, 2005, but regained them on July 23. They went on to lose the title again, this time to the team of Sal Rinauro and Tony Mamaluke, on October 1 2005.

Jacobs and Whitmer continued to team as part of Lacey's Angels managed by Lacey. The team broke apart as Jimmy Jacobs was more concerned with winning Lacey's affections than winning matches. Jacobs would go on to make music videos for ROH professing his love for Lacey. After Jacobs and Whitmer split, the two began feuding in brutal matches. In one match at the Dragon Gate Challenge on March 30, 2006 Whitmer slipped on the top turnbuckle while attempting a super powerbomb that dropped Jacobs head and neck first on the ropes and edge of the ring. The two continued to wrestle several minutes longer. At In Your Face on June 17, 2006, Whitmer super powerbombed Jacobs into the crowd. Jacobs went on to injure Whitmer at Gut Check on August 26, 2006.

It was later revealed in a storyline that Lacey was sleeping with Colt Cabana. Lacey arranged for the two to be a tag team. Cabana left the team because he was annoyed at Lacey, and tried to explain to Jacobs that she was using him. Jacobs seemingly accepted Cabana's explanation, before assaulting him. BJ Whitmer made his way back from injury and continued his issue with Jacobs. When Brent Albright joined Lacey's Angels, their matches soon became tag-team, where Whitmer and Cabana would face Jacobs and Albright. Recently, it has progressed to the point where Daizee Haze has joined forces with Whitmer, and Lacey, in turn as the leader of the group, hired an "assassin", Mercedes Martinez. At The Chicago Spectacular: Night 2, Lacey was injured after Whitmer accidentally struck her in the face with a spike when Jacobs moved out of the way. Jacobs would go on to make his third music video (in which he has been described as being "demented") expressing his felling on her disfigurement.

On March 31, 2007 in his native town of Detroit, Michigan, Jacobs battled BJ Whitmer in what the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter called an instant classic. The two concluded their year long feud inside a steel cage. The bloodbath that ensued had the rabid ROH fans wanting more blood. Jacobs was able to prevail in this match, that had chairs, spikes, and barbed wire bats as weapons. Jacobs won with a Senton Backsplash off the top of the cage through a table. After the match it was announced that Jacobs lost a tooth and tore his ACL (an injury he previously had). He is expected to miss 6 - 9 months of action. Whitmer also suffered a neck injury in the battle.

While he was injured, ROH decided to continue the Lacey-Jacobs storyline with 4 small vignettes shown on YouTube, detailing a trip that Lacey spent in Minneapolis with Jacobs; afterward, he accompanied Lacey to the ring for her matches, in which they appeared have swapped personalities.

Thoughts on Jimmy Jacobs:Best guy on the mic in ROH.... He's also fucking nuts! Because of his size more often that not he looks to be overmatched, but his willingness to do anything and everything in a match always give him a chance at getting the win. I can't see him winning the ROH, though he'll probably win the tag titles again at some point. One thing's for certain, Jacobs will always bust his ass and go to any lenghts to entertain the fans and that may be worth more than any amount of titles.

You think Jacobs is the best guy on the mic in ROH? I know he's good but he's no where near as good as guys like Chris Hero, Larry Sweeney, Delirious, and Jack Evans.

Jimmy is great on the mic, I don't know about the best. He's amazing, though.

Its time to Man Up, with the wrestler (wrestlers, this week) of the week... The Briscoes.

4m9hf15.jpg

Height and Weight:6'0 (both of them) 480 pounds (combined)
Trained By:Van Hammer, Glenn Osbourne, CZW training school
Previous gimmick/names:The Midnight Outlaws
Finishing Moves:Legdrop/SSP combo. Jay Driller (Jay Briscoe) Cutthroat Driver (Mark Briscoe). They have a ton of double team but I won't post them all.
Entrance Theme:Gimme Back My Bullets by Lynrd Skynrd
Notable Feuds:Roderick Strong and Austin Aries, Samoa Joe, Kings of Wrestling, against each other >_>
ROH Debut:Jay debuted at ROH's first show and Mark debuted at the Honor Invades Boston show

The Briscoe Brothers are well known for their work in Ring of Honor, but before that, they wrestled for Combat Zone Wrestling. Having already made a name for themselves in CZW, the Briscoes joined ROH and appeared on its first show, The Era of Honor Begins. Due to state laws in Pennsylvania (which is where the majority of ROH's early shows took place), Mark, who was only 17 years old at the time, could not wrestle. He did however accompany his older brother Jay to the ring for his matches. Jay's first match was against Amazing Red, which he lost. Jay began to build a number of loses, and backstage criticism from Mark led to a feud between the two. This war of words from Mark even saw the Briscoes' parents try to calm things down between them. At Honor Invades Boston, age laws no longer applied since they were out of Philadelphia, and a match took place between the brothers, which Mark won. Having been embarrassed by losing to his younger brother, Jay vowed not to lose any more matches. He redeemed himself at the next show by beating Amazing Red in a rematch, and at Glory By Honor, Jay scored a pinfall victory over ROH Champion Xavier in a non-title match. Because of this victory, Jay got a title match, but could not beat the champion again. At ROH's One Year Anniversary Show, Jay and Mark wrestled each other one final time, and this time, Jay was the winner. After this match, the feud ended and they began teaming together.

The Briscoes immediately challenged for the ROH Tag Team Championship against Amazing Red and A.J. Styles, but did not win. At Glory By Honor 2, they were part of a Gauntlet Match for the vacant title, but were eliminated by Special K. During this time, Jay and Mark also challenged Samoa Joe for the World Title, but neither beat him. After many attempts at the tag title, the Briscoes defeated Special K to become the new champions. Though they couldn't defeat Joe in singles competition, they did successfully defend the tag title against him three times, with Joe having a different partner each time.

At Reborn: Stage One, the Briscoes defeated the debuting Havana Pitbulls in a non-title match. The next night, they lost the title to CM Punk and Colt Cabana. At the next show, Round Robin Challenge III, the tag team title was defended in the Round Robin Challenge, and in each of the three matches, the title changed hands. The Briscoes defeated Dan Maff and BJ Whitmer to become two-time champions, but later that night, they lost it back to Punk and Cabana.

Both Mark and Jay competed in Survival of the Fittest '04. Jay lost his qualifying match against Homicide, and Mark beat Alex Shelley to advance to the six man match, but was eliminated. After this, the Briscoes began a feud with The Rottweilers. At Reborn: Completion, they teamed with former enemy Samoa Joe to face Homicide and the Havana Pitbulls. At Death Before Dishonor II Part 2, Jay lost another singles match to Homicide and Mark lost to Low Ki. Both matches were hard hitting, but the Rottweilers' cheating ways were too much for the Briscoes to handle. The Briscoes got retribution at Testing The Limit when they defeated Homicide and Low Ki in a tag team match. This match would be their last match in ROH for nearly two years as they took a break from ROH and wrestling in general.

In late 2005, the Briscoe Brothers returned to wrestling in Jersey All Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Unplugged, where they won the tag team title. In early 2006, it was announced that they would be returning to ROH. They came back with a new attitude and made an immediate impact in their return match by defeating Tony Mamaluke and Sal Rinauro and Jason Blade and Kid Makaze. The Briscoes set their sights on Generation Next, the stable which included the World Tag Team Champions Austin Aries and Roderick Strong. At Best in the World, Roderick Strong and stablemate Jack Evans defeated the Briscoes. This loss did not discourage them, and at The 100th Show, they beat Generation Next member Matt Sydal and his partner AJ Styles. The Briscoes then got a title shot against Aries and Strong. The night before this match, Jay and Mark beat Aries and Strong in singles matches. Despite the momentum gained from these victories, they were not able to beat the champions for the title. Because it was a very close match, the Briscoes received another title shot. They lost again, but still received a third shot with the stipulation that it would be their last shot. The Briscoes lost for the third time, and they could no longer challenge for the tag title as long as Aries and Strong held them (this is no longer in effect, because of their loss of the title). On October 14, 2006, The Briscoes won the FIP Tag Team Championship over the Heartbreak Express.

On January 7, 2007, in their first Pro Wrestling NOAH match, The Briscoes defeated Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Takashi Sugiura to win the GHC Jr.Heavyweight Tag Team title. On January 21, 2007, The Briscoes lost the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Title to Ricky Marvin & Kotaro Suzuki.

On February 24, 2007, Jay and Mark Briscoe defeated the team of Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal to become three-time ROH World Tag Team Champions. Their reign would be short-lived, as they lost the title in their first defence a week later, on March 3, against Shingo Takagi and Naruki Doi in Liverpool, England. The next night March 4 they fought each over to a double knockout in a one off match. Then on March 30, 2007 they received a rematch against Shingo and Doi. Despite Mark having to leave the match after a concussion sustained from a shooting star press to the outside, Jay finished the match alone and regained the title for the Briscoes. After the match Jay was challenged by Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin for a title shot on April 28th in Chicago. Two weekends later Mark returned in the middle of his brother Jay's and Erick Stevens match against Kevin Steen & El Generico, however Mark was beaten up by the duo and was pinned by Steen after a Package Piledriver.

The next weekend at an FIP show in Florida Mark returned with his brother Jay to take on Necro Butcher & Mad Man Pondo in an insane brawl which saw Mark jump off the ring crew truck and onto Butcher and Pondo who were laid out onto two tables. The Briscoes went on to retain their belts in that matchup and Mark was back in action after only 3 weeks of time off.

At The Battle of St. Paul on April 27, the Briscoes successfully defended the ROH World Tag Team Championships in an Ultimate Endurance Match against Pelle Primeau & Mitch Franklin, Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw, and Hallowicked & Gran Akuma. The following night, at Good Times, Great Memories they retained the titles against The Murder City Machine Guns. At Reborn Again on May 11, the Briscoes once again retained against ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima & BJ Whitmer. Both Mark and Jay lost in singles matches against El Generico and Kevin Steen respectively in the second night of Death Before Dishonor V aswell as losing in a tag Street Fight in the first night of the DbD.

Thoughts on The Briscoes:Simply put, they're the best tag team in wrestling. That includes Japan,WWE,TNA anywhere in the world, no other team consistently puts on show-stealing matches except Jay and Mark. They wrestle with a perfect balance of mat-wrestling (Jay's specialty) and High-Flying (Mark's specialty) that allows them to have a chance against any team that's put in front of them. They're decent on the mic, though they make me laugh simply because I can't understand half of what they're saying (unless they say man up!). They'll continue to dominate the tag-title scene in ROH and other promotions, but I see them in the WWE in the not so distant future. Man Up!

Does anyone else think The Briscoe's are too spotty? They're my favorite tag team next to Cheech & Cloudy and Team F.I.S.T, but I feel their a bit too spotty at times. No doubt, they're good wrestlers, but they use enough finishers in one match to take out an entire roster. When I see the Briscoes in the ring, things usually become a "top this" type of situation, and not a wrestling match.

Time to continue with the WOTW, and this week I profile another former ROH alum.... Low-Ki.

67n2e7k.jpg

Height and Weight:5'8 and 180 Pounds
Trained By:Jim Kettner and Homicide
Finishing Moves:Ki Krusher and The Ghetto Stomp/Warrior's Way
ROH Debut:ROH's First SHow
Notable Feuds:Christopher Daniels, Bryan Danielson, Amazing Red, Homicide, Xavier, Jay Lethal, Samoa Joe

Low-Ki made his debut in Ring Of Honor in its first show The Era of Honor Begins. In that show's main event he defeated "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson and "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels. On July 27, 2002, at Crowning a Champion, Low-Ki became the first ever Ring Of Honor Champion by defeating Christopher Daniels, Spanky and Doug Williams in a Four Way Ironman match. On September 21, 2002, at Unscripted, he would lose the title to Xavier, who, after winning the title, became a member of Christopher Daniels stable The Prophecy.[9] Low-Ki left the promotion in 2004 due to the infamous Feinstein incident in ROH. He returned to Ring Of Honor in 2004 during the match, where Samoa Joe with Jay & Mark Briscoes fought against The Rottweilers (Homicide & the Havana Pitbulls). It looked like Low Ki would save Samoa Joe from the beatdown by The Rottweilers, but instead he spat on the ROH World Championship, which was then held by Samoa Joe, and joined the heel stable.

At "Weekend of Thunder Night 2" on November 6, 2004 he started a feud with Bryan Danielson, who was Low Ki's partner in a match against Samoa Joe and Jushin "Thunder" Liger. Ki & Danielson lost the match and Low Ki blamed his partner for that, so The Rottweilers started a beatdown on Danielson. On December 4, 2004, at All Star Extravaganza II, Bryan Danielson defeated Homicide of The Rottweilers. In that same event Low Ki wrestled Austin Aries in a #1 Contender's match to Samoa Joe's ROH World Championship. The match ended in a draw. ROH Officials extended the match, but Low Ki refused to wrestle, so the winner of the match became Austin Aries. Instead of facing Samoa Joe at Final Battle 2004, Low Ki wrestled Bryan Danielson, but Low Ki got himself disqualified and then attacked the referee. This was enough, for ROH Officials to suspend him indefinitely as a result.

Low Ki returned in 2005 and immediately attacked Jay Lethal at Manhattan Mayhem with his fellow Rottweiler Homicide. The impromptu tag team match was made: The Rottweilers vs Samoa Joe & Jay Lethal. Low Ki & Homicide won the match and injured Lethal with a Ghetto Stomp/Da Cop Killa combination. The feud continued at Death Before Dishonor 3, where Low Ki and Lethal faced each other in a singles match, but it ended in a no contest. They had a rematch at Redemption, but the ending was the same and Rottweilers beat Lethal down after the match. Finally, at Glory By Honor IV, a match between the two ended with Low Ki getting a pinfall victory over Jay. It looked like the feud was over, but when Samoa Joe went on to save Colt Cabana from a beatdown by The Rottweilers, Jay Lethal came out to even the odds and said that he wanted yet another rematch with Low Ki, which Lethal won this time, ending the feud. Later in the year, Low Ki helped Homicide in his feud against Colt Cabana. On December 17, 2005, at Final Battle 2005, he challenged KENTA for his GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship, but came up short. Low Ki left ROH once again in January 2006 He won his last match against Jack Evans. ROH covered his leaving by having the ROH commissioner Jim Cornette ban Low Ki from Ring of Honor for life after it was discovered that he was the one who knocked Cornette's tooth out at Tag Wars 2006.

Thoughts on Low-Ki:Ki is a cat of a different breed, to say the least. His style is probably the most unique in the States, because its just so stiff that it makes it all look real. His style may not appeal to the masses, but it does to me. His mic skills are non-existent, but he lets his action do the talking for the most part. I miss seeing him in ROH, I think he would have some great matches with the current crop of talent. Hopefully we'll get to see him there again someday.

Good on the mic, plays a heel great and dont be surprised to see him win a couple of matches now he has signed with ROH.

Might as well chuck this in for novelty value when Hero attacks a fan.

Yes, the time has arrived for me to revive this thread. This week's WOTW is a man who needs no introduction, but he's going to get one anyways. He's the best wrestler in the world. Of course, I'm talking about Bryan Danielson.

In 2002, Bryan Danielson joined Ring of Honor, where he is acknowledged as one of the "Founding Fathers" (along with Low Ki and Christopher Daniels), as he was one of the wrestlers who made the company prominent during its inception. On February 22, he main-evented ROH's debut show The Era of Honor Begins in a three-way match against Low Ki, and Daniels, which quickly put the company on the map. In January 2005, Danielson would embark on a bitter feud with Homicide, culminating in a best-of-five series of stipulation matches. Homicide dominated early as Danielson lost the first two matches, a Submission match and a Taped Fist match. However, Danielson emerged victorious in the remaining three matches, winning a Falls Count Anywhere match, a Lumberjack match, and a cage match at The Final Showdown on May 13.

Danielson was long regarded as the best wrestler in ROH to have never held a title belt; despite winning the company's inaugural Survival of the Fittest tournament in 2004, championship gold constantly eluded Danielson's grasp. It came to the point where in mid-2005, an ROH Newswire announced that Bryan Danielson had quit ROH after being frustrated by his inability to defeat Austin Aries for the ROH World Championship. Danielson had become frustrated in general with professional wrestling and planned to take time off to evaluate his career options. However, Danielson had several dates booked in Europe, thus the ROH Newswire was likely a storyline claim for Danielson's absence during this period. In May rumors started that Total Nonstop Action Wrestling was interested in signing Danielson, but Danielson remained with ROH.

Danielson would finally end the "best wrestler in ROH to have never held a title belt" albatross by defeating James Gibson for the ROH World Championship on September 17 at Glory by Honor IV.[10] After this, he would not compete in an ROH ring until a month later (due to competing in IWA-Mid South), but he would make his return to successfully retain the championship against his arch nemesis Austin Aries on October 14.[11] Danielson also made a successful defense against Christopher Daniels during ROH's A Night of Tribute show, where he knocked him out with a Roaring Elbow after a 30 minute bout. On December 17 at Final Battle 2005, he defeated Pro Wrestling NOAH star Naomichi Marufuji with a roll-up.

In early 2006, Danielson was embroiled in a feud with Chris Hero, as they had been exchanging words over the internet. This all culminated in a match on January 14. After invading Combat Zone Wrestling and brawling with Hero, the two wrestled at Ring of Honor's Hell Freezes Over, where Danielson retained the ROH World Championship. Following the match, Prince Nana offered to buy the ROH World Championship from him. When he refused, he was attacked by The Embassy (Alex Shelley and Jimmy Rave).

Jimmy Rave challenged Danielson for the title at the Fourth Anniversary Show, after the Embassy won the 2006 trios tournament at Tag Wars 2006. In an effort to not be out done, Shelley challenged him for it on the show prior to the Anniversary Show, but it would not occur; the north east suffered a blizzard, so Prince Nana was unable to secure the flight for Shelley (who in reality had been pulled along with all the other TNA contracted wrestlers from the show, so they would not miss the TNA pay-per-view the following night). As a result, former ROH Champion and Embassy member Xavier faced Danielson in a losing effort, with Danielson eventually defeating Rave at the Fourth Anniversary Show and Shelley at Arena Warfare.

During April, Danielson became the head trainer at the ROH Wrestling School, replacing Austin Aries. In Danielson's next match on April 22, he defeated Colt Cabana in Philadelphia, at The 100th Show, with a roll-up in only six minutes (an unprecedented length for an ROH World Title defense). He came out later in the show and, after getting in a battle of wits with the CZW fans (who were there for the ROH vs. CZW six man war), he defeated Delirious when the referee stopped the contest after a series of MMA-style elbows. He would go on to defeat Delirious again in a rematch on May 13.

On July 15, at Death before Dishonor IV in Philadelphia, Danielson defeated Sonjay Dutt, who had signed an open contract for any CZW wrestler willing to challenge for the ROH World Title. Later on in the night, he participated in the ROH vs. CZW Cage of Death match, having occupied the vacant fifth slot on ROH's team. He was the third member of ROH's team to enter the cage, and his presence gave them a huge advantage over CZW's team. However, just as CZW's third member was about to enter, Danielson revealed his true intention for entering the match as he attacked Samoa Joe and left the arena. Joe was rendered unable to continue in the match, and ROH's team would not fully recover until much later, when Homicide made a surprise appearance.

On August 5th, during Fight of the Century Danielson fought with Samoa Joe to an hour draw to retain the ROH World Championship. On August 12, during Ring of Honor's first UK tour, Danielson defeated Nigel McGuinness to unify the ROH World and ROH Pure Wrestling championships. He then successfully defended the title twice the following night in Broxbourne, first against NOAH wrestler SUWA and second against Roderick Strong. On August 25 and August 26, he competed in two 2/3 falls matches (one against Nigel McGuinness and the other against Colt Cabana) that ended in a one hour draw, these two matches would be his 2nd & 3rd one hour draws in ROH in 21 days. During his match with Cabana, Danielson fell outside the ring and landed on his right shoulder, separating it around the ten minute mark of the match, Danielson continued the match for another 50 minutes until the match was announced a draw. He tore two tendons in the shoulder and tore another tendon in his chest. As a result, his ROH World Championship match with Austin Aries on September 15 was postponed, and his FIP Championship match against Davey Richards on September 8 was cancelled. Danielson returned to wrestling at Glory by Honor V: Night 2 and retained the ROH World Championship in a match against KENTA. He defeated Austin Aries on October 7 in their rescheduled match to retain the title.

Danielson lost the Full Impact Pro Heavyweight Championship on November 10, 2006, in Inverness, Florida, to Roderick Strong. A week later, Danielson debuted in Pro Wrestling NOAH, teaming with Bison Smith and Eddie Edwards to defeat KENTA, Ricky Marvin and Akitoshi Saito after making Marvin submit to the Cattle Mutilation. Danielson's last match of the tour took place on December 2 at the Yokohoma Bunka Gymnasium in a losing effort against KENTA. On December 8, Danielson defeated Samoa Joe in a Steel Cage match in Chicago, Illinois when Samoa Joe was standing on the top rope, with the choke on Danielson who was hunched over the cage trying to escape. Bryan Danielson just fell off the top of the cage out of the choke and was declared the winner.

On December 23, at Final Battle 2006, Danielson faced Homicide in a competitive bout that featured Danielson attempting to get himself disqualified twice, but he ultimately lost the match after a lariat from Homicide. Following the match, Danielson presented Homicide with the ROH World Championship, and subsequently took time off from wrestling in order to heal his shoulder.

On March 3, the National Wrestling Alliance published a video of Danielson stating his intent to challenge for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. On March 19 ROHWrestling.com released the following statement: "The days are counting down for Bryan Danielson's return to ROH. He is set to make his first tour since his hiatus with Pro Wrestling NOAH and will visit Australia for the first time with World Series Wrestling's International Assault Tour 2.

On April 30, Ring of Honor announced Danielson will be back in ROH for June 8 in the Boston area, June 9 in Philadelphia, June 22 in Dayton, and June 23 in Chicago. His first match has been signed and it is a rematch of one of last year's top bouts. June 23rd back at the Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago will see Bryan Danielson vs. KENTA. On May 11, Danielson made his return to Ring of Honor a month ahead of schedule at the Reborn Again event in Hartford, Connecticut. He defeated Shane Hagadorn and Adam Pearce in separate matches, then was attacked by the No Remorse Corps after he declined to join the group. Matt Cross and Erick Stevens made the save, and Danielson teamed with them in a losing effort against the NRC. On May 12 Danielson teamed with ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima to take on Nigel McGuinness and KENTA at the Respect Is Earned event at the Manhattan Center in New York City . Danielson scored the win for his team after making KENTA tap out to the Cattle Mutilation. The event was a taping for Ring of Honor's first pay per view. On May 13, the National Wrestling Alliance vacated the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and announced a tournament would be held to crown a new Champion. The first match announced for this tournament saw Danielson defeat Nelson Creed in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 16.

On May 25 in Brisbane, Australia he defeated Mark Hilton at the AWF (Australian Wrestling Federation) Brisbane Bash, on Sunday May 27 at the Gold Coast AWF Showdown he has challenged AWF Heavyweight Champion TNT for his title. During Danielson's Tour of Australia he also managed to claim the vacant World Series Wrestling Heavyweight Championship by defeating Nigel McGuinness in Sydney, Australia. He went on to successfully defend the title in a rematch against Nigel the following night in Melbourne before losing it to Billy Kidman the next night in Newcastle. On July 29, Danielson managed to defeat El Generico, who had just beaten Pac and Roderick Strong with Kevin Steen for the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla tag titles, for the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla title.

On August 18, Danielson defeated Adam Pearce in the semifinals of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. He was scheduled to face Brent Albright for the title in Puerto Rico on September 1st. However, on August 25, Danielson fought Morishima in an attempt to regain the ROH World Title. He lost in what was immediately described as one of the best matches in the promotion's history. During this match, he suffered an orbital fracture and a retina injury. The NWA announced on August 27th that due to the injury, Danielson would be unable to compete in the September 1st title match, and that Adam Pearce would be selected in his place to face Albright. Danielson was later chosen to be the special referee for the bout as announced on August 30 at NWAWrestling.com. Danielson made the pin with supposedly both men's shoulders on the mat, yet awarding the win and thus the belt to Adam Pearce.

On January 5th, 2008, Danielson lost the PWG World Championship to Low Ki. He has also recently failed in his attempts to gain the FIP World Heavyweight title when he lost to Erick Stevens. He is currently traveling with Pro Wrestling Noah. This would explain his absence in some of ROH's more recent shows.

Thoughts on Danielson:He calls himself the best wrestler in the world... And I could not agree any more with that statement. Bryan (Along with Punk) where the two first indy guys that I became a fan of. The scary part about Bryan... He's still getting better. Look at his ROH matches in 02, and look at his matches throughout the years since then. He always finds a way to improve on his game. Whenever he goes to Japan, he comes back a much better wrestler. Like I said, he's been out of the ROH loop as of late, but when he returns, I fully expect him to be back in the ME scene.

Feel free to agree or disagree.

to me, Bryan Danielson is the franchise guy of ROH. He is what Ring of Honor is all about. Has a lot of classic matches under his belt.

I do like how his mic skills have improved as well. He cut a great promo at the 6th anniversary show saying how important ROH was, and why he is still in ROH.

His matches are sometimes too techincal to me, but ehh. He's the type that doesn't need the belt to be over ala HHH. I think he will be first 2x ROH champ as well.
