Ring of Honor (ROH) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) continue to work together to present the Best Professional Wrestling on the Planet and now the stars of ROH will travel to Japan and compete at legendary Korakuen Hall for two historic events on Friday February 19th and Saturday February 20th.
ROH and NJPW officials have signed the contracts and now we can announce the cards for these two amazing cards of action!
HONOR RISING - NIGHT 2
Saturday February 20th - Korakuen Hall
ROH World Championship
Jay Lethal © vs Tomoaki Honma
For years, Tomoaki Homna was the punchline to a cruel joke but he gained confidence throughout 2015, getting a win in the G-1 Climax Tournament, teaming with Makabe to win the World Tag League and the IWGP Tag Team titles at Wrestle Kingdom 10.
Now, can the super-popular Honma unseat the “Greatest Wrestler in the World” at Honor Rising? Can Honma use the “Kokeshi” headbutt to become ROH World Champion? Or will Jay Lethal once again shut the door on a worthy challenger, asserting his dominance as Lethal has done to AJ Styles and Michael Elgin in recent high-profile defenses?
NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championship
The Briscoes and Toru Yano vs Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks
Yano and “Dem Boys” captured the NEVER Six Man titles at Wrestle Kingdom 10 and the following night at “New Year’s Dash”, Omega and the Bucks shook the earth by throwing AJ Styles out of BULLET CLUB, seizing power within the group. The Briscoes and the Bucks are no strangers and Yano will have to be at his “cheating” best to help keep the titles.
SIX MAN TAG TEAM MATCH
Roderick Strong, Hiroshi Tanahashi and “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin vs Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii and Yoshi-Hashi
This is incredible! Wrestle Kingdom 10’s main event on opposite sides as are the main eventers from Night 1 of Honor Rising. Strong will look to push the pace while Tanahashi has to crave a win over Okada. The CHAOS team ramps up the toughness, thanks to Ishii. While Elgin and Tanahashi have made some comments about a tag team title pursuit, this match will be a tenacious test of their teamwork.
Moose and KUSHIDA vs “Los Ingobernables” (Tetsuya Naito and Bushi)
Moose’s size advantage could give him the opportunity for dominance here while Bushi stepped up at New Year’s Dash as a challenger for KUSHIDA and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, nearly unseating the champ at The New Beginning in Niigata. Naito’s change of attitude makes him dangerous not only to the opposing team but also to announcers, referees and ringside attendants.
Eight Man Tag Team Match
reDRagon (Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly) and Hirooki Goto and Katsuyori Shibata vs BULLET CLUB (“Machine Gun” Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, Bad Luck Fale and Tama Tonga)
“Strength in numbers” will be the Bullet Club’s anticipated strategy here as they will look to swarm their opponents with attacks inside and outside the ring. Goto’s recent loss to Okada seems to have put the former IWGP Intercontinental Champion in a mental funk and he will need to snap out of it in a hurry. Fish and O’Reilly look to continue their winning ways in 2016 at “Honor Rising”.
Dalton Castle vs Frankie Kazarian
A recent encounter between Castle and Kazarian’s “Addiction” mate Christopher Daniels sets the stage for this one. Kazarian was instrumental in the outcome and the “Party Peacock” looks for revenge and a victory over the “Heavy Metal Rebel”.
Matt Sydal and Jushin “Thunder” Liger vs Delirious and Gedo
One half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champs teams with the legendary Liger to face a team comprised of opponents at Honor Rising Night 1. As unpredictable as Delirious can be, will he and Gedo be able to work together?
Jay White vs David Finlay
A showcase for two NJPW “Young Lions” in what promises to be a fast-paced, physical opener. Finlay is a fourth-generation wrestler and the son of David “Fit” Finlay. White, a native of New Zealand, will look to score a win and impress both ROH and NJPW officials.
