Seems like he surely would. Indie companies are probably chomping at the bit to book him against Speedball, Gresham, Shelley, Zayne, Christian, etc.
looking forward to Strong vs Vikingo

PWInsider: More Details on Roderick Strong Signing with AEW

PW Insider noted a few things about Roderick Strong’s AEW debut.

Roderick Strong’s WWE deal actually expired in November of last year. Since WWE does not announce NXT departures and it wasn’t a release but a contract ending, it flew under the radar. Strong’s debut for AEW could have went down in December the moment his 30-day non-complete clause was over, because that’s how contracts work.

The debut was timed for after Adam Cole’s return and locally in Florida (where he lives) to prevent Strong from being spotted traveling.
It was also noted that Roderick Strong’s NXT departure was “so under the radar, he was listed on WWE.com well after he debuted for AEW.” Roddy Strong made his AEW debut at his own pace, after he took several months off to heal after being “banged up” for the last run of his NXT career.

The report went on to say that Roderick Strong and AEW “had been quietly talking for some time about him coming in and came to a deal.” They also kept him hidden backstage prior to his AEW debut on Dynamite.

...that's not how contracts work though right? :lol if it's an expiration and not a release aren't they good to show up anywhere right after lmao

I think the 30 day part is a clear mistake yes. His contract just ended in december n he rested injuries until his debut is what i gather

Yeah it's just extra funny bc of the "that's how contract works" line which reads as condescending even lmao

Yeah I was going to point that out also. When a contract is up, you could literally show up that day if there’s a show going on. No waiting. :lol But great, I bet in the future one of the people who actually already thought you had to wait 30 or 90 days after it expires will use this in some argument.

But holy heck, the fact he was a free agent that long, and it wasn’t even known is wild. So glad it was kept a secret because I need more moments like this.

I agree with both Blaze and Booty, btw.

It was a shock, but I do think not even knowing someone had left the other company is like the biggest shock I’ve had in a decade. Dirts kill virtually all secrets about contracts and stuff. It’s surreal.
