Hot off his Remember Me success, Twilight's Robert Pattinson has today been linked to a movie about tragic Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain. Rumor has it the 23-year-old heartthrob is set to play the grunge man himself, which would not only add to his acting resume, but would also put his musical talents to good use.
The UK newspaper The Sun claims RPattz has been in contact with Cobain's widow Courtney Love, who is set to have a hand in the Universal movie production. Actress Scarlett Johansson has been tipped to play Love, in what would surely make one of the most unlikely movie couples of recent years. RPattz struggled to find any chemistry with Remember Me co-star Emilie de Ravin, so who's to say Johansson would fare any better? An unnamed source said:

Honestly I am all fine with a Cobain movie. Being a huge Nirvana fan I think it's long overdue. But using a already established, and by established I do not mean talented, just someone with a following.. Even if it is just a bunch of screaming teenage girls. Is a risky way of going about a bio flick.

I think they should have went the route of movies like 'Notorious' and 'The Blind Side' both of which I thought were good movies and used a unknown actor to play the lead. Not only did it help them gain some sort of notoriety but it also shifted the focus less on the leading actor and more on the film. Which in Cobain's case is the impact that not only Nirvana and his death had on the music industry, or at the the very least MTV. But how the whole grunge movement kind of shifted the perecption that some had on rock music, good or bad.

if you were a nirvana fan you wouldn't want them to create a fucking movie about him. On top of that it's through the eyes of courntey love and universal/we It's going to be a fucking disgrace.

oh and don;t forget that his twilight fanbase is going to follow this movie. I wonder if he's even going to be a heroin addict or just focus on making pattinson's career fucking ridicolous. He's going to be a rockstar to all of these neglected kids and worse yet he'll be a fucking movie star.

This is bad guys

Pattinson is way too mainstream of an actor to play Kurt Cobain, they should just go with an unknown. Courtney Love is making it because she is flat broke & desperately needs money, she lost every cent that was given to her after Kurt's suicide. A Nirvana movie is everything Kurt was against. Its well known the man despised the fact that his record label was commercializing his name & band. The guy just wanted to make music & not be that famous, sort of like what Sonic Youth have spent their career doing. At least he didn't spend his career like GG Allin did, getting kicked out & banned from just about every venue he played and regarded by most as a train wreck of a human being.

Guy who plays self loathing, depressed, brooding and vastly over rated teen icons.... yeah sounds like a perfect fit for Cobain.

They should get Heath L...

Forget it. This movie is going to blow.

In all seriousness, Heath Ledger would have been perfect for this role. He was able to pull off Dylan once upon a time, and he could have pulled this off too.

Yeah, because that's why he made music videos, did MTV Unplugged, did plenty of interviews for publicity and signed the damn contracts agreeing to pedal his shit excuse for music to the masses.

He then acted like he hated the idea of commercialization of his music because it was "cool".

What a hypocrite.

I actually heard a rumor that before he died he was asked to play Kurt in the movie.

Yeah, I think that a independant documentary would have been much better, and a more legit praise of Cobain's legacy then a full length, big budget hollywood movie tbh.
