Musician Rick Derringer has passed away at the age of 77.
Wrestling fans know Derringer as the man behind "Real American," the theme song used by Hulk Hogan during the height of Hulkamania and his run in the WWF. Derringer was a co-writer on the theme.
Derringer also co-wrote the theme for Demolition and produced The Wrestling Album and Piledriver: The Wrestling Album II.
Outside of wrestling, Derringer recorded over a dozen studio albums as a solo artist, including his debut album All American Boy in 1973, which peaked at number 25 on the US charts.
He worked with Steely Dan, Ringo Starr, Cyndi Lauper, and "Weird Al" Yankovic, with producer credits on Weird Al's "Fat" and "Eat It."
