Wow, that fuckin sucks! Holy Diver was one of my all time favorite songs. The man who made the world almost forget Ozzy was in Black Sabbath.

I didn't know everything about him but enough to realize how fuckin crazy this is. I saw the documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey and the guy interviewed Ronnie James Dio and I think he mentioned that he wasn't a heavy drinker/drugger, weird that he went before Ozzy.

sad.

I'm suprised he didn't try and exploit himself before kicking the bucket. Well if he did anyway, poor job of it. I know people who are huge into Dio and they don't have no 20 yr reunion masters album

universals mods, hello

I had no idea that he was so bad off. I knew he had cancer, but last I heard they didn't think he was going to die from it.

I wasn't a huge fan of his newer stuff, but how could you not love Holy Diver.

This is pretty bad to lose a prominent member of the metal genre, so RIP Dio

My dad will be absolutely devastated. I thought he'd gotten better after the stomach cancer. Tis a sad day :(.

Really sad. One of those people you grow up listening to. From the moment I got into metal Dio was always constant, someone you never imagine music without. Glad I got to see them on the last Heaven and Hell tours. RIP.

The problem with DIO dying is the fact that he was universally loved by other musicians (not including ex-bandmates, Vivian Campbell in particular). He wasn't a dick. He wasn't known for being a pompous asshole. He was known for being a down to earth guy with a killer voice. I actually spent a part of Sunday looking for anyone with a bad word about Dio, couldn't find one. I was honestly expecting Gene Simmons to die before Dio, but apparently you get to live longer by being an arrogant, marginally talented (barely played bass on KISS albums) cocksucker.

If you are a newbie to DIO check out Holy Diver, The Last In Line or The Beast Of DIO. The Beast Of DIO is a great comp that has DIO & Rainbow tracks.
