July 28th 2008- A message from ROH President Cary Silkin

Hello Ring Of Honor fans,

Unfortunately, ROH will be going on a short hiatus. Due to worker schedules and a lot of inconveniences, we will be resuming Ring Of Honor on September 19th 2008 with the return of the Race To The Top Tournament! Until then, merchandise will still be availible on the website and the forums will still be around. Enjoy the time off, loyal ROH fans!

ROH Newswire-September 16th 2008

September 16th: Race To The Top Tournament is less that 4 days away, and tickets are moving fast! Get them whilst you still can right here at ROHwrestling.com at 15% off, but hurry, the sale ends tomorrow!

September 16th: As you can see, there have been many changes throughout ROH the past 2 months. Expect the roster to get more beefed up very soon.

September 16th: On night 2 of the Race To The Top Tournament, the annual $10,000 4-on-4 tag team match has been confirmed. The teams have been made. Team one consists of Sweet and Sour Inc's Chris Hero, Adam Pearce, Eddie Edwards and Tank Toland taking on Ring Of Honor's Austin Aries, Bryan Danielson, and The Briscoe Brothers! Watch as the two mega forces in ROH will collide!

September 16th: A huge match has been signed onto the October 10th show in Coral Springs, Florida. This match will see the ROH World Tag Team Champions Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black taking on the team of El Generico and Kevin Steen! After Steen's impressive performance on July 26th in Toronto, ROH officials have decided to reward him with the tag title shot. The Age of The Fall aren't too happy about this.

September 16th: Sweet and Sour Inc. have certainly been on a role as of late, acquiring Davey Richards as their latest. According to a message left at ROH headquarters, another major signing who is on the ROH roster has been signed, and apparaently it will be revealed at this weekends shows.

September 16th: One year ago, El Generico made it to the Race To The Top finals against Claudio Castagnoli in Edison, NJ. This year, Generico looks to make himself a bonified main event star as he faces off against former masked man Jigsaw in the first round of the tournament. Generico was unable for comment.

September 16th: After losing a match on July 27th to ROH World Champion Nigel MCGuinness, Claudio Castagnoli felt as if he was no longer useful in Ring Of Honor. We have been given word that on Saturday, he will deliver his farewell address to Ring Of Honor fans. Don't miss what is sure to be a special night.

September 16th: Due to a conflict backstage, Adam Pearce and Brent Albright have been released from ROH. We wish them luck in the future.

Ring Of Honor: Race To The Top Tournament Night 1
September 19th 2008

Show kicks off with an awesome crowd chanting ROH. Cary Silkin comes out and welcomes everyone back to ROH and everyone is in for one hell of a show tonight.

Opening Contest: Bracket A Tournament Match: Hallowicked Vs. Chuck Taylor
Taylor starts off the match by stomping away on 'wicked. Wicked counters an attempted suplex into an arm drag. Wicked uses his size advantage to keep control. In the end, Hallowicked goes for the Go 2 Sleepy Hallow but Taylor reverses and hits the Awful Waffle for the pin.
Winner: Chuck Taylor(8:10)

Post match, Chuck Taylor goes out of the ring and screams in a little kids face. Hallowicked gets applause following the match from the crowd as leaves the ring.

Bracket A Tournament Match: Delirious Vs. Gran Akuma
Delirious goes crazy as the match starts. Delirious tells Akuma his head is shiny. Akuma doesn't take crap, so he goes to work on Delirious. Delirious gets nailed with the Yoshi Tonic for 2. Akuma goes for the Falcon Arrow, but Delirious pushes him out of the way. Delirious hits a back lariat to the head of Akuma, then locks in the Cobra Stretch, which does the job.
Winner: Delirious (9:01)

Post match, Delirious and Akuma shake hands.

The Larry Sweeney Show starring Larry Sweeney
Sweeney comes out to the ring and announces that Ring Of Honor has cut him a great deal for tomorrow's 4-on-4 tag team match, plus the $10,000 incentive they will receive for winning. Sweeney brings out his guest for the night, Erick Stevens. Sweeney asks Stevens to join SNS Inc and to become part of the revolution since he see's talent in him. Erick takes the microphone and tells Sweeney no. Sweeney whispers something into Erick's ear, which makes him take a step back. Sweeney asks Erick what he thinks. Stevens says he thinks Sweeney can kiss his ass. Stevens then hits the Doctor Bomb on Sweeney and leaves the ring. After a minute of pain, Sweeney gets to his knee's and announces that tomorrow, Stevens will pay.

Race To The Top First Round Match, Bracket B: El Generico Vs. Jigsaw
This ruled so hard. They start out chain wrestling until Jigsaw hits a flip dive to the outside. Later on, Generico slips out of the Jig N' Tonic and rolls Jigsaw up for 2. Jigsaw goes for a Bicycle kick but Generico ducks, which sends Jigsaw to the corner. Generico then hits the Yakuza Kick followed by the BRAINBUSTAH~! for the victory.
Winner: El Generico(12:02)

Post match, both men follow the code of honor. Ruckus comes out to attend to Jigsaw. Jigsaw looks up at Ruckus and pushes him away. Jigsaw tells Ruckus that this weekend was supposed to be about him, and Ruckus didn't help. Jigsaw goes to the back pissed.

Race To The Top First Round Match, Bracket B: Ruckus Vs. Kenny Omega
Omega and Ruckus tear the house down here. Ruckus hits a Pele kick followed by a Fisherman's Buster for 2. Ruckus goes up high but Omega runs up and hits a top rope belly-to-belly suplex. Omega covers but only gets 2. Omega eventually wins this one with a release German Suplex/ Cross Legged Brainbuster Combo.
Winner: Kenny Omega(9:02)

Post match, Omega celebrates and leaves the ring. Jigsaw comes out to see Ruckus. He picks Ruckus up and grabs a microphone. Jigsaw says he apologizes. Ruckus says it's all good. Ruckus goes to leave the ring, but Jigsaw turns him around and says "For not doing this sooner." Jigsaw then hits the Jig N' Tonic on Ruckus and announces he is the newest member of Sweet and Sour. Larry Sweeney comes out to the ring and shakes hands with Jigsaw as they leave the ring.

RTTT Tournament, Bracket C: Matt Cross Vs. The Necro Butcher
Necro absolutely murders poor Matt Cross here for the opening minutes. Cross gains the advantage halfway through, hitting a flip dive onto Necro. Cross throws him into the ring and goes for a SSP, but Necro moves out of the wa and hits the Tiger Driver for the win.
Winner: The Necro Butcher(4:02)

Post match, Necro gets on the microphone and says he is tired of being 2nd fiddle in a group. Necro announces his resignation from AOTF. Jacobs comes out to the ring and asks if Aries has gotten to his head. Necro denies it and leaves the ring in a confused state. With Jacobs already in the ring, Bobby Cruise announces his match is now.

RTTT Tournament, Bracket C: Jimmy Jacobs Vs. Mike Quackenbush
Jacobs seemed a little distracted in this one, most likely because of The Necro Butcher. Quack murders Jacobs on the mat, but Jacobs picks up the pace on their legs. Quack locks in the CHIKARA special, but Jacobs manages to reach the ropes. Quack goes for a Full Nelson Suplex but Jacobs counters and hits the Contra Code for the win.
Winner: Jimmy Jacobs(13:02)

Austin Aries comes out to the ring with a microphone. Aries announces that his hate for Jimmy Jacobs has grown stronger since the ROH hiatus. Aries says that Jacobs is a little emo bitch who needs to move on and hand Lacey back. Jacobs tells Aries that he has no idea where Lacey is. Aries tells Jacobs to cut the crap. Jacobs says he seriously has no idea, she could be in one place or she could have escaped. Aries demands to know where she is. Jacobs says to go to 23 Martin Avenue in Chicago, Illinois if he wants to see Lacey so bad. Aries brawls to the back with Jimmy.

RTTT Tournament Bracket D: Kevin Steen Vs. Davey Richards
Steen and Richards battle it out with a chop fest early on. Steen throws Jacobs over the top rope and goes for a flip dive but Richards had it scouted and managed to move out of the way, sending Steen to the mat. Richards worked over the arm from here on out. Steen later tried for the Package Piledriver, but he couldn't get Richards up with his weakened arm. Davey hit a superkick for 2. Finish comes when Steen managed to hit the Steenton Bomb for the win in an awesome match.
Winner: Kevin Steen(11:03)

Post match, Generico comes out to see Steen, and the two celebrate.

RTTT Tournament Bracket D: Bobby Fisch Vs. Erick Stevens
Stevens just takes out all of his frustrations garnered from SNS here. Fisch tried to get some offense, but the Doctor Bomb put Fisch down.
Winner: Erick Stevens(3:02)

Post match, Hero comes out with Toland and beats down Erick Stevens. Ironically, Roderick Strong comes out for the save. once Toland and Hero have been fended off, Roderick looks at Stevens and tells him it wasn't for him, he hates SNS also. Strong then leaves the ring.

Main Event: The Briscoe Brothers Vs. Austin Aries and Bryan Danielson
This was so insane. Back and forth contest here. Dragon isolated Mark for the majority of the match here. Jay gets the hot tag and cleans house. Mark hits a spear through the ropes onto Dragon. End comes a few minutes later when Dragon had the Cattle Mutilation on Mark and Aries hit the 450 to his back, which got the win.
Winner: Austin Aries and Bryan Danielson(16:02)

Post match, the teams shake hands as the show ends.

2nd show will be longer, had to get in the gist of things. I tend to like to keep things on the more simple side due to the fact that it isn't real. Hopefully you will still enjoy the show!

September 20th: Thank you fans of Boston for making Ring Of Honor's return a success! ROH will return to Boston on December 10th, 2008!

September 20th: What was at once a big time rivalry in ROH now seems to be settling down. Roderick Strong actually saved Erick Stevens last night from Sweet And Sour. Could anything come of this?

September 20th: Sweet and Sour Inc. announced the signing of former Vulture Squad member Jigsaw. After the announcement, Jigsaw attacked his former partner Ruckus. Ruckus has demanded revenge, and will get his shot. On October 11th in Orlando, Ruckus will take on Jigsaw!

September 20th: Chuck Taylor has impressed many backstage. There are already rumblings of him becoming a permanent fixture on the ROH roster.

Taylor is mega over in PA. This one is pure comedy gold. Delirious and Taylor lock up to start off the match and chain wrestle for the opening minutes. Taylor catches Delirious going for a Hurricanrana and throws him into the turnbuckles for a powerbomb. Delirious stumbles forward as Taylor goes for the Awful Waffle, but Delirious slides back into a schoolboy for 2. Delirious hits a leg lariat then drags Taylor over to the corner. El Generico Vs. Kenny Omega

Both of these men put it all in the ring. Generico and Omega start off with some impressive high impact moves, each one trying to out do the other to prove they belong. Claudio grabs a microphone and soaks in the environment. Claudio states he has been in Ring Of Honor for 3 years, and throughout all the time he has been here, he has been told he has had "it". He says that he has been unable to prove it to himself, and that he is dissapointed in himself because of it. Claudio says that althought his time in Ring Of Honor has come to an end, you will be seeing him around. The crowd awaits his response, but he takes off his suit jacket and dress shirt to reveal a Sweet And Sour Inc T-Shirt! Claudio begins to laugh as the crowd begins to boo mercilessly. Claudio says he is done in ROH, but his time in SNS is just beginning. He says that he is a buisness man through and through, and he has had no success since aligning with the fans. Claudio says that some may say that he has sold out and that he hates SNS. He says that they betrayed him, but he has seen the light. Larry Sweeney comes out from the back with a huge smile on his face. Sweeney hopes in the ring and raises Claudio's arm high into the air and announces Claudio will be taking Tank Toland's spot in tonights 4-on-4 tag team match. Claudio and Sweeney go to the stage, where the rest of SNS have gathered, except Chris Hero.

Necro starts out the match running at Jimmy Jacobs, but just as he does, he stops and looks at Jacobs. Necro takes a step back at the leader of the AOTF. Necro then takes a step back, looks at Jacobs and leaves the ring. Jacobs stands confused as the ref counts to 10.
Winner: Jimmy Jacobs(1:20)

Post match, Necro goes to the back, Jimmy follows.

Race To The Top Tournament Block D Finals:
Kevin Steen Vs. Erick Stevens

Steen and Stevens just brutalize each other here. Steen tries for the Package Piledriver early on, but Stevens managed to reverse and hit sick lariat. Steen takes advantage for a few minutes before the ending stretch comes, which is awesome. Steen hits the Steenalizer for 2. Stevens hits a release German for 2. Stevens goes for the Doctor Bomb but Steen manages to hit an STO for 2. Steen goes up top for a Steenton Bomb but Stevens moves out of the way and hits a massive Belly-To-Belly upon both men reaching their feet. Steen manages to counter a Doctor Bomb into a small package for the win.
Winner: Kevin Steen(10:02)

Post match, Steen and Stevens shake hands as Steen makes the belt motion around his waste, going to the back. Stevens shakes his head in disappointment as he walks to the back after Steen.

Semi-Final Match
El Generico Vs. Chuck Taylor

This one was all kinds of awesome. Taylor and Generico do some awesome stuff on the mat before Generico picks up the momentum, knocking Taylor to the outside, then hitting a beautiful Moonsault from the top rope to the outside. Generico throws Taylor back in and attempts a cover, but only gets 2. Generico takes Taylor up but Taylor hits an overhead belly-to-belly suplex out of no where! Generico curls up as the ref begins a 10 count. Both men get to their feet at 7 as Taylor takes control. Taylor goes for a Backcracker but Generico escapes. Jacobs comes out still confused from the previous events. Steen goes to work on Jacobs in the early goings of this match. Jacobs manages to counter the Steenalizer into a DDT for 2. Jacobs begins to dictate the pace manically. Just as Jacobs sets up for the Contra Code, Steen pushes him to the outside. The ref gets to 6 before Jacobs re-enters. Steen goes to take him up but Jacobs rolls back into a sunset flip for 2. Jacobs takes Steen up, but Steen nails Jacobs with a powerbomb! Steen quickly takes Jacobs up and hits the Steenalizer! Post match, Generico comes out on the ramp and see's his tag team partner and future opponent.

Team ROH comes to the ring. Sweet and Sour come to the ring as Sweeney announces Eddie Edwards can't be here tonight, so Jigsaw will be his replacement. Claudio, Jigsaw and Pearce come out as Hero comes out last, sort of isolated.

$10,000 Annual Tag Team Match: The Briscoes, Austin Aries and Bryan Danielson Vs. Claudio Castagnoli, Chris Hero, Jigsaw and Adam Pearce
M. Briscoe starts things off here with Jigsaw. Mark gets the upperhand prior to Hero getting the tag and dominating the poor Briscoe. Briscoe eventually manages to make the Hot tag to Aries. Aries unloads but Claudio stops the momentum and goes to work on Austin. Austin gets isolated for the majority of the match before Dragonson gets the tag. Dragon cleans house before Jigsaw hits a missile dropkick to the back of Dragon's head. Dragon goes down and Jigsaw covers for 2. Jigsaw tags in Hero as Hero comes in and begins to beat down on Dragon. Dragon won't have it as he fights back. Claudio comes in the ring and looks at Hero and smiles. Hero doesn't have much emotion though. Claudio grabs Drago in a full nelson and tells Hero to Dragon. Hero runs with a roaring elbow but Dragon ducks as Hero hits Claudio! Hero looks down at Claudio as Dragon hits the Dragon Suplex on Hero, Aries distracting the rest of the team as Dragon gets the win!
Winners: Austin Aries, Bryan Danielson, Mark Briscoe and Jay Briscoe(17:02)

Post match, Larry Sweeney tells Hero if he messes up one more time, he is out of Sweet and Sour. Claudio shoves Hero as Hero is left alone in the ring.

Race To The Top Tournament Finals: El Generico Vs. Kevin Steen
Prior to the match, the two tag team partners shake hands. This one starts off very technically sound, as the two exchange holds on the mat, reluctant to hurt one another before the tag title match next weekend. Finally, Steen breaks the ice and begins pounding away on Generico. Genrico manages to fight back and the two begin to brawl. Generico hits a beautiful dive to the floor, taking Steen down. Generico manages to maintain control for the next couple of minutes before he misses a running Yakuza and walks into a Powerbomb. Steen goes up and hits the Steenton Bomb, but Generico kicks out! Steen begins to work on the lower midsection of Generico over the next couple of minutes. Steen tries for the Sharp Shooter but Generico pushes him out of the way and into the ropes. Steen comes back as Generico takes Steen down into a small package but only manages to get a 2 count. Exhaustion obvious, Generico throws Steen into the ropes. He takes a while but manages to hit the running Yakuza. Generico hits the Brainbustah~! but Steen kicks out! Generico is in disbelief has he takes Steen up again, but Steen falls back, kicks Generico in the midsection and hits the Package Piledriver! He covers, but it has taken him too long as Generico manages to kick out at the last second! Steen tries for the Sharp Shooter and gets it locked in! Generico struggles and manages to reach the ropes after a long struggle! Steen tries to re-apply the hold but Generico shoves him into the turnbuckle. Generico runs for a Yakuza, but Steen moves out of the way and hits a Lariat! Generico is turned inside out as Steen climbs up, but Generico digs deep down and climbs to the second rope and delivers a BRAINBUSTAH~! to the top turnbuckle on Steen! Generico covers and wins the Race To The Top Tournament!
Winner: El Generico(22:55)

Post match, Generico and Steen have an awkward moment as Steen is visibly angry he couldn't get the job done. Generico extends his hand and Steen accepts, raising Generico's hand in mid air. Steen's look of jealousy is apparent, but Generico celebrates as the show ends.
