From this week's Observer

Ricochet (Trevor Mann, 35), had his contract expire in WWE and he’s expected to debut here shortly. It will be interesting to see his early reaction. I think we’ve learned nobody that AEW can get is going to single-handedly move ratings at this point, but as far as crowd reactions after the first week, where obviously it’ll be big, will they see him as a WWE guy who was just a guy on the roster or will they see him as Ricochet from years ago when he was one of the hottest indie stars in the world? It’ll be an interesting look at the AEW live event fan base.

I believe it was Fightful that also reported his agent was at Forbidden Door but not Ricochet himself

I think we all touched on it in the other thread. He's going to get a huge pop when he debuts,

But to me, it's about where he's at 2 months after he debuts. If he's in there with Swerve and Ospreay and MJF and all the other top guys then great.

But if the initial new toy syndrome wears off and he gets stuck on Rampage, was it worth jumping.

I wish him the best. There's a lot of cool opponents and cool moments he can have.

Whats with the new toy analogy ? Why does he need to be with the top guys if he's being signed as a top end midcarder? Also nothing wrong w rampage....very odd post tone, considering I've never seen this attitude when midcarders come to wwe from aew :hmm

To answer the very loaded question though, if ur in the same spot but making more money w a better schedule, then ya obviously the jump was worth it?

I think there's a big middle ground, and that's where I'd expect him to be. He will surely face Ospreay fairly quickly, even if I'd prefer they hold off on it for a bit, and feud with/face off with some of the top names, but at the end of the day... I think a majority of people perceive him as a midcarder, and that's what he'll probably be. Very unlikely he will be "stuck on Rampage" at least. No doubt will be on Dynamite and Collision more weeks than not.

I can see him do a run with the TNT title, international perhaps even but that will be harder to reach

I can't say I really want anymore out of him than when he was used regularly in WWE, just paired with different people. It feels like a lateral move to me, assuming pay is about the same if not more.

But the man himself might have higher expectations than me idk, I feel if he was perfectly content then he wouldn't have left. But I just can't see him being a main eventer at all

I think he should go to Japan personally. He could be a top guy over there with their current lack of big names.

They can't afford anything is the issue. I don't think he was unhappy in WWE so I never bothered fantasy booking anywhere but AEW for him bc he's not taking a voluntary major pay cut I don't think

For some reason I didn’t think money was his issue I thought it was card position

We're all speculating so you might not be wrong but he was mostly a midcarder and flirted with upper midcard when HHH was usually booking so if he wants more than that, then yeah AEW isn't the place at all

I also don't think money was an "issue" I just don't think he's taking a crazy cut to wrestle for anyone else, he's just hoping he's happier in AEW

It’s just wild that he’s looking to be happier by leaving the company his fiance is in and probably going to stay in
