I wouldn't call RHCP revolutionary, they're just really unique. Because nobody can even have a good imitation of them.

Alice Cooper has to be the most influential artist in Metal/Hard Rock, just for his look. Almost every band has copied his look and the theater of his performances.

the MELODIC death metal scene could more be attributed to In Flames and Dark Tranquillity rather than At The Gates....they're on the heavier technical side. I'de group them more with Death.

Led Zeppelin pretty much invented the hard rock we know today, and The Beatles have probably influenced just about every artist on the planet in one way or another.

Rage Against The Machine & Red Hot Chilli Peppers make music impossible to imitate.

EDIT-Also, a lot of bands listed are hardly revolutionary. It's good music, but it's still the same as everyone else's.

I didn't say In Flames cos DT and In Flames are close to the same band lol.

The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Korn, and Nirvana all have, literally, thousands of bands who have copied them. They are some of the most influential.
