ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Rescuers are responding to the scene of a charter plane crash in the Alaska wilderness.
Reports are that six people were aboard, but it is not known if there are any fatalities.
Alaska State Troopers say rescuers arrived Sunday at the site of the downed Inland Aviation Service plane, which departed Saturday evening from the town of McGrath, about 225 miles northwest of Anchorage.
Steve Hill, one of the owners of Aniak-based Inland Aviation, says a pilot and five Iditarod School District employees were on board the single-engine Cessna 207 and were heading to the village of Anvik, which is about 140 miles to the west.
Troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen says a spot beacon transmitting a 911 signal was activated, showing the plane 37 miles from McGrath.
