Jeez, I always enjoyed that 2015-18 period of NXT where it was just excellent wrestling every show. It was the only WWE thing I could watch because it was just that good and different. Sad to see what they're gonna do with it now

The notes below are from the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer. These are all paraphrased from an extremely long report

• Those backstage in NXT are largely in the dark about what’s to come.
• Major marketing and branding decisions have come from “outside the NXT circle.” Meltzer did not say who specifically but noted people “the likes of” Vince, Nick Khan, Ace, Dunn and Pritchard are involved.
• Unlikely that weekly booking, creative and production will be handled outside the NXT circle due to time among other things. However, those listed above may have “more influence” on who gets pushed/protected at the highest levels and obviously future cuts.
• Report of Vince/Bruce producing the weekly show (reported by Alvarez) is incorrect. There was an NXT meeting to tell the talent specifically this was not true.
• Decision to change may be due to Raw and SmackDown being up in ratings but NXT not being up despite changing days and no longer going head to head with AEW.
• Whether these changes will “ruin NXT” is still TBD. It won’t be the same, but not sure to what extent. Success “is always determined by numbers” but in this case also building new stars.
• Many in WWE thought NXT moving nights would benefit it more than AEW.
• Meltzer believes WWE fans / fans in general now care more about look and atmosphere, saying NXT had “by far the worst look” between Raw, SD and AEW due in part to the small crowd. Booking alone used to be what could make difference but that is not always the case now.
