I guess this is why they didn't drag the HBK/JBL feud into Mania. I suppose JBL had it in the back of his mind that he wanted to go out on top..kinda. I suppose a loss to HBK wasn't too desireable for him.
So I guess we can look foward to yet another tournement for the vacated IC title in which afterwards it will once again be forgotten.

And also, if JBL's farewell is anything like is return with the ridiculous amount of pyro I'm all for it. That had me rollin.

If they were smart they'd build it up as him wanting to retire as the IC champion (as a heel) with a big ass retirement ceremony but have someone challenge and beat him for the belt.

JBL as face hmm, it didnt really work in 2002 when he was helping austin out,

But even if he says USA is #1. i still wont cheer for him.. it's not like i live there..

JBL as Face = the same JBL in ring work as Heel with less cheating i guess.... nothing too special..

See, even though I know most casual fans are Blue and will cheer anybody they're programmed to I really can't picture him as a face. Especially being able to make the turn in less than two months time.
