Dave is reporting Andrade won the US title at a house show because WWE wants to draw more interest in live shows. Makes sense with the declining ticket sales I suppose.

Why not have a House Show title (which is basically the U.S. Title at this point) that makes very little if not no TV appearances for House Show workhorses. Give the title to some bigger name every now and then but give the fans something to follow during live shows

I mean, I get the reasoning behind it and all but lets not act like they would have done this at some random house show in the middle of bum fuck nowhere and it wasn't only done because it's MSG and they wanna keep drawing good crowds there.

Would be real interesting to see how many title changes they do (excluding 24/7) at house shows from here on out.

They did this with AJ and KO literally 2 years ago. It’s MSG; WWE always seems to do a title change or have a big moment when they’re there.

Makes sense. I attended a number of WWE house shows in the 90's as a kid in MSG, and anytime they'd do something noteworthy on a house show, it'd be at an MSG house show (Diesel winning the World Title in '94. Diesel turning heel on HBK on St. Patrick's Day in '96 just two weeks before WM 12, and of course, the curtain call in May '96). Good to see them going back to this if this isn't just a one-off.

Reason behind Andrade becoming new US Champion is WWE wants some new face in 2020 rather than legends and veterans. Rising superstars can take company forward in future.
