Like HoHo mentioned, his death deserves its own thread:

Ray Liotta has died. The Emmy Award winner was 67.

The Goodfellas actor died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic, PEOPLE confirms. He was engaged to fiancée Jacy Nittolo, and he was dad to daughter Karsen, 23, with ex-wife Michelle Grace.

A source tells PEOPLE no foul play is suspected in his death and that Nittolo was with him when he passed.

Deadline was first to report the news.

Liotta spoke to PEOPLE in November about how his personality differed from the tough-guy roles he played in TV and film. "I have never been in a fight at all, except for during sports, and that's just pushing and goofy kid stuff," he said at the time.

He added of his career, "It's weird how this business works, because I've definitely had a career that's up and down. For some reason, I've been busier this year than I have in all the years that I've been doing this. And I still feel I'm not there yet. I just think there's a lot more."

The star recently appeared in the Sopranos prequel movie The Many Saints of Newark and the Amazon Prime series Hanna, and he was currently filming the movie Dangerous Waters.

Liotta revealed his engagement to Nittolo, a mom of four, on Christmas in 2020, writing on Instagram, "Christmas wishes do come true. I asked the love of my life to marry me, and thank God she said yes!!!"

He also opened up to PEOPLE about not taking family for granted. Raised in New Jersey, the star was adopted from an orphanage as a baby by his father Alfred, an auto parts store owner, and mom Mary.

"At first, I didn't understand how a parent could give up a child," he said. "So I had that kind of energy of just being like, that's f---ed up. And then when I finally met my birth mom in my 40s, by then, I wasn't as angry about it. It's just another journey."

Added Liotta, "After years, you grow up, and you just see the pattern of things. I've definitely developed more patience. Now I'm grateful for my health. And being born. For my parents that adopted me. I mean, it could have gone a lot of different ways."

Great career, and I loved everything he was in. No matter how good or bad a movie was you always knew his performance would be top notch. RIP

He made looking like a Gangster seem so damn cool the way he carried himself not just in Goodfellas but in other projects he had a presence about him that made you pay attention to what he was doing in that Film or TV role. Look at that dude he was still working among his death and loving his life he worked so hard to create for himself. RIP Ray Liotta.

He was in my favorite Neo-Noir movie of all time, Narc, and my favorite Action/Thriller movie of all time, Smokin' Aces. Man has done it all and a legend in his own rite

Narc is really amazing. I actually think after Goodfellas that would be my pick.

I personally like Narc more just because it has a blend of Indie/Arthouse film style mixed with that classic Noir feel and he acted so well in it especially considering he was pretty much paid nothing for time in a manner of speaking. Goodfellas is good and I love it as well, but Narc's grittyness is what sells it for me.

I rewatched Goodfellas last night for the umpteenth time and it still never gets old no matter how many times I watch it. I don’t ever need a reason to watch it, but I wanted to honor Ray and it’s my all time favorite movie. Ray is incredible in it, it’s a flawless film imo, just perfect and he’s a huge part of why.

He’s so good in many other films like Field of Dreams, Something Wild, Killing Them Softly, The Place Beyond The Pines, Copland, and even Many Saints of Newark (the best part of that movie imo).

“You’re gonna like this guy, he’s all right. He’s a good fella. He’s one of us.”

RIP Ray Liotta, you’ll be greatly missed.

Can't list all the stuff he was in that I liked, hell even that stupid cop show with J-Lo I liked.

A great actor who made any bad movie better just because he was in it.

RIP Ray Liotta :pour

I rewatch Goodfellas last night for the first time in a few years and you really have to appreciate all the small things Leota did in that movie. Even when he’s not talking at the reactions that he does are superb. His performance gets lost with the performance of the Dinero and Pesci but it really was amazing. That movie really holds fuck up.
