Raw Rating, Estrada fired

This weeks RAW did a 2.9 cable rating, down from last weeks 3.1. More details forthcoming as the data is posted by Nielsen Research Media.

Any time the rating sinks below the 3.0 mark, it is scary news for WWE. Monday Night RAW has been hovering around the 2.9-3.0 mark for quite a while now, and some WWE employees are certainly starting to get worried. The company nearly had to go bankrupt in the mid-90's before Vince McMahon made the changes needed to usher in the Attitude Era and save the ratings.

I notice when RAW has a middling of good/solid matches, the ratings go down, and when there's not so good matches, the ratings are relatively consistent.

As for Estrada, I couldn't care less.

Raw has been pretty damn good for the last two months. It could be that the ratings haven't caught up. Because lets face it, Raw pretty much sucked this summer. Thats my positive outlook.

And now onto how I really feel...

What they need to do is put the belt on a credible main event star and get it off mr. career midcarder who has never had any drawing power. That will boost the ratings. Hopefully that happens this weekend.

No one cares if CM Punk or Chris Jericho are champion, with the exception of 10 ROH fans and 1,000 canadians. They are good complimentary guys, who are capable of filling into main event feuds every now and then. But to go basically half a year with midcarders as the face of the brand had disaster written all over. They should have given Batista the belt, for more then 2 days, while Orton and Cena were injured.

You say "I thought Raw was good, but the majority didn't think so".
If the majority didn't think Raw was good after watching it, that would show up on next week's ratings. You know what I mean?
The 2.9 has to do with people not tuning in, but tat doesn't mean it's because of this weeks show.
Just thought I'd clear that up.

Exactly, altough to point that out we need to see the full info on the ratings, I mean the quarterly breakdown, because it may be that show started 3.2 solid, but lost viewers as the show went through, or it could just be that it started 2.9 and finished like that, which would be a hell lot worrying.

Usually I couldn't give a fuck about the ratings, but in the interests of this topic (and a response to the eagerness of some to blindly blame that bad rating on it being a shittty show), surely the OVERALL rating is what counts and if so the quality of the show itself holds very little bearing over the rating they get.... As has already been pointed out they need to clock up x-amount of good shows in a row in order to create a buzz about the show and get people watching again.

They could have the biggest match EVER tucked up their sleeve for a Raw ME but, nine times out of ten, unless you are already watching at the begining of the night you are none the wiser.... Thus the casual fans aren't so driven to tune in.

I honestly think the ability to download/record WWE TV and watch it without all the FAAARKING adverts is bringing a general decline to ratings in general (particularly so when you consider the D/L option wasn't so readily available during the late 90's/early 00's boom period).


For the most part I want the ratings to continue to drop so that WWE shift up a gear and really start kicking ass. As Cenamark said, the last couple of months have been real good, so the foundations are there.

I think the main problem is, as Cenamark said, that they don't have a proper draw for their top title. Cena or Orton will solve that though.
