It sort of sucks when you have three hours of show but only about 90 mins of actual relevancy because you have 45 mins of commercials and 45 mins of a combination of filler matches that lead to nowhere and recapping stuff that happened earlier that night.

It honestly seems like the extra hour that could be spent on developing younger stars or focusing on other story lines is being wasted on more airtime for Cena and Punk and other guys who were already getting tons of TV time.

3 hours is just stupid, and the problem is that many people blame Punk's reign as champion for the drop in ratings without realizing it it the 3 hours formula that is destroying the ratings....

The ratings were mediocre already before the extra hour. They just made it worse, it is proven though that Punk's reign over all didn't draw as good as a standard Cena reign.

I'd prefer Punk to be champion till the end of days with his amazingly entertaining promos, than seeing Superman with the title for the 4537543275th time.....

Long reigns are good but they cannot be too long in the era of TV. Besides, we've seen that even Punk can be boring or uninteresting as champ which he was for parts of his face run. They need to let other people be champion and Cena has without a doubt proven that he can carry the company otherwise he wouldn't be in the position he is today. But having already held the strap 10 times I think WWE should let someone else dethrone Punk who has been pretty stale until recently, entertaining but stale.

Stale?
Cmon now , we all know that Punk along with DB & Ambrose are the most interesting things that is happening in the WWE right now....

The last word you want to say when defending Cena is the word "stale"....

Punk's feud with John Laurinaitis was pretty stale. A lot of Punk's reign especially at the start and just before RAW 1000 was basically him threading water where nothing interesting happened. Punk is an entertaining guy but I can find him stale unless he has something big to work with. If he is just there to fill out time then he gets pretty stale.

I'm not a Cena fan but I will not flame him relentlessly either. Punks is one of those guys that needs to keep a constant flow of things happening around him. If his feuds slow down they can get stale because he is supposed to work at a high pace.

Is Raw moving back to 2 hours? Comcast listing for Monday has NCIS at 8 p.m., Raw at 9 p.m. @CMPunk #2.3 quarter hour

Punk retweeted this which suggests to me that it's BS as Punk and Meltzer are 'fueding'.

Book Punk vs Meltzer for Wrestlemania. I'd pay to see Punk beat up Meltzer.

If his feud with Big Johnny was stale, what about Cena's feud with Johnny?
Was it any better?

Plus, it's not Punk's fault that they are not putting him in big feuds, he is the WWE Champion and the biggest feuds in the company should revolve around him....

At least when Cena feuded with Big John it felt important since it was the fate of the company hanging on it with the whole Big show and Vince McMahon thing.

And Punk not being put in top feuds is a tough question.

Whilst one could argue that the big feuds should be around the WWE champion but one can also argue that the face of the company should also be involved in the big stories, the face being the big draw, the money maker. Austin is a prime example, when not champion he was still the one that the big stories revolved around.

One could also argue that Punk was given plenty of chances to make a big story during his championship reign. The Jericho feud, the AJ thing, the Laurinaitis feud. He was here offered to feud with one of the best in the business, a story revolving around the most popular female in the WWE since Vickie G and he who was supposed to be the new top corporate heel yet neither worked. Granted the AJ thing and the Laurinaitis fell flat also because of WWE not knowing what to do with AJ and Big John just not living up to his self made hype but Jericho did everything right in his feud with Punk, yet it just didn't work out as a top story it seems and some of that blame has to be put on Phil Brooks.

So has Punk been put in top feuds and they haven't just not worked or is it something else? My answer is this:

Punk has not worked out stellarly as a face because he doesn't look like a good guy to the casuals. For the average wrestling fan he looks like a bad guy with all his tattoos and in general mean looks, his voice always has a hint of sarcasm to it which further enhances a bad guy vibe around him. He has also said that he preferably is a bad guy. Punk works best as a villain and he gets the best response from the casual crowds when a bad guy.

In short: As a face Punk can be stale at times, as a heel he is incredibly entertaining.

In short: As a face Punk can be stale at times, as a heel he is incredibly entertaining.

Punk is meant to be a Heel, they watered him down last year when they fully turned him face as he was at least supposed to stay as a tweener ....

I can agree with that Punk is not as entertaining when he is a face.....
But again you mentioned his feud with Jericho and how it was supposed to be a lot better, but what can he do if the whole focus on the build up to WM was on Rock & Cena?

Even at Extreme Rules, the focus of the show was on Cena and Brock Lesnar, they never gave that feud a chance to shine and main Event....

His feud with DB and the involvement of AJ was awesome in my opinion, and his match with DB at OTL was Top 3 matches of the year without a doubt, but again it was overshadowed by Cena's stupid feud with Big Johnny and Big Show which I didn't even give a damn about...

Bottom line is, Punk is definitely more entertaining as Heel or Tweener than as a face, but either ways he is not been given the proper chance to shine and main event PPVs in a lot of feuds that I think deserved to be in the main event...
