Return of The Deadman
One week after Shane McMahon’s re-emergence landed WWE’s prodigal son in a high-stakes Hell in a Cell Match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania, The Deadman will appear on Raw, live in Nashville. Will The Demon from Death Valley address his impending bout with Shane, where control of Raw — and, in essence, WWE — hangs in the balance?
1. The Undertaker rises on Raw
The Undertaker will appear live on Monday’s edition of Raw for the first time in 2016, WWE.com can confirm. Following Mr. McMahon’s blockbuster declaration that The Phenom will battle Shane McMahon inside Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania to decide if The Boy Wonder will assume control of Monday Night Raw, the WWE Universe has been speculating on what the legendary Superstar will have to say about his role in the McMahon family power struggle. Will The Deadman shed further light on his historic 24th contest at The Showcase of the Immortals?
2. Make or break for Roman Reigns
As WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H explained on SmackDown, quoting The Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy for the Devil,” he’s “a man of wealth and taste.” However, another classic Stones song can be applied to Roman Reigns’ life these days: “Let it Bleed.” At the conclusion of Raw last week, a vicious and gruesome attack by The Cerebral Assassin shattered The Big Dog’s nose, requiring him to undergo surgery to repair the extensive damage.
Reigns was understandably absent from SmackDown, but the powerhouse has never been known to stay down for long. Might we see Triple H’s WrestleMania challenger retaliate against The Game before their Show of Shows clash?
3. Who will face Charlotte at WrestleMania?
After Divas Champion Charlotte planted seeds of mistrust between new allies Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks, The Irish Lass Kicker and The Boss will collide on Raw for the opportunity to challenge the conniving daughter of Ric Flair at WrestleMania.
This will hardly be the first time that Becky and Sasha have stood in opposite corners, but with a title opportunity on The Grandest Stage of Them All st stake, expect it to be a battle like no other. Will this No. 1 Contender’s Match end the former rivals’ budding partnership as it gives rise to Charlotte’s WrestleMania challenger? As this intense action unfolds, the Divas Champion will be watching.
4. Crazy like a fox
Even though Brock Lesnar obliterated Dean Ambrose in the parking garage before last week’s Raw, The Lunatic Fringe — neck brace and all — commandeered an ambulanceand confronted The Beast during the broadcast. Goading Lesnar, even in his battered state, Ambrose demanded a No Holds Barred Street Fight with The Conqueror atWrestleMania. The unstable Superstar’s challenge was met with a brutal F-5 at ringside, then an acceptance by Lesnar’s advocate, Paul Heyman. Despite seeming indestructible, even in the face of The Anomaly’s fury, this is still a bout pitting a man against The Beast. Yet, will the chaotic nature of this anything-goes Show of Shows confrontation favor The Lunatic Fringe?
5. Boyz will be Boyz
Even though they returned bringing back memories of the crowd-pleasing, table-smashing Dudley Boyz from The Attitude Era, Bubba Ray & D-Von are now more reminiscent of the trash-talking malcontents that riled up ECW fans in late-1990s Philadelphia.
The Dudleys’ change in demeanor seems to be paying off, as evidenced by D-Von’s swift victory over Jimmy Uso on SmackDown when Bubba Ray dragged a table out from under the ring, causing a distraction before shaking the ropes and dislodging Jimmy from the turnbuckle. Even though The Dudley Boyz have seemingly sworn off destroying tables forever — no longer catering to the whims of the WWE Universe — they were still able to use the threatening implements to their advantage. Was it hypocrisy, strategy or both? Expect Bubba Ray & D-Von to continue reminding WWE fans and the locker room that they’re no mere nostalgia act — they’re WWE Tag Team Championship contenders.
Don’t miss Raw at 8/7 on USA Network, and be sure to tune in to Raw Pre-Show at 7:30 ET, only on the award-winning WWE Network.
