I actually won't be talking for that long this time as I actually really enjoyed this PPV and strangely enough, I find it hard to talk for ages on something when I'm unable to criticize it and have to rely solely on compliments. I will say that my rating will be lower than most of the ones found in this thread for the very reason that my ratings don't account for weight. Which yes, I know they probably should, it's far more professional and will lead to a more accurate representation of how I actually felt towards the event but I'm far too lazy to do that much math (which says a lot about how lazy I am, considering it's not really that much more math than what I'm already doing). Before I begin, I'll just take this time to brag that, not counting the pre-show since I never do (why would it, going by the literal definition it's not actually apart of SummerSlam), I called everything happening in this PPV. Now granted, had it not been for that report that suggested HHH may turn heel during that match, I probably would have been surprised like everyone else but I figured it was going to happen quickly after Bryan won. That said, I actually wouldn't detract any points of the PPV for that because every result was the right result. Orton winning (how can anyone be surprised by that, WWE pretty much announced he was going to do it on Raw when he came out during that Miz Tv segment [not to mention it was obvious even before WWE decided to play it straight]). Fun note, I got all that right and that Miz Tv segment was like that only segment I saw during the entire build. Okay, now's a good time to actually start this review . . .

SummerSlam Review
Love is a Burning Thing . . .
and it makes a fiery ring, you all know how the song goes, I'm sure. I know I started by saying I actually liked this PPV but it couldn't have started off worse than it did. I'm just going to ignore the fact that this match was rather meh because that's not my problem. My problem is that Bray Wyatt come off as someone that not only can't win without his family but he come off as someone who can't even be of any use without them. I think he got like three moves during the entire match, and he was just getting destroyed by Kane. The number game victory here is just awful and considering Wyatt actually has an interesting character (a huge rarity nowadays in WWE) this is very disappointing. This thread expresses my opinion on this just fine. Although, I don't think the post-match did much to salvage it, all it did was serve to remind us of the difference in characters between them and every other heel group that came before them booked as only capable of winning via the numbers game.

Showcase of the Future
During this match I couldn't help but be happy that these two are most likely going to be a staple in WWE for years to come because this was a fun match with purpose, with a nice amount of energy, some nice moves and a really great finish. The potential for greatness just really shone through here and I want to take a second to say that I love that Rhodes has adopted moves from both Hardcore Holly & Goldust, really nice way to show his roots. No real complaints, giving more time this could've easily been an 8 though but for what they were given I was pretty impressed.

Fine, You Guys Have a Flavor
I'm sure that makes no sense to most of you and I'm sure as hell won't explain it. Honestly, probably my second favorite match of the night just based on match quality. Bryan/Cena might rank higher but that has nothing to do with the quality of the bout, that has to do with the result and being attached to the story (who had any attachment to this match?). This match however, was really great in terms of action, I loved the counters (Del Rio's backstabber was the highlight, though I also really got a kick out of his spear reversal) and I really loved how Christian really played the veteran card. Not sure if I'm the only one who noticed it but they did a lot of things that typically allow the heel to gain an advantage except Christian subverted most of them. I won't list examples (though I certainly could) and instead I'll just cap this off by saying I loved the finish since it made smart use of the build.

Natalyaya!!
Slight Durarara!! nod, check. Anyway, really boring match that the crowd obviously didn't care for because they were busy chanting for the commentators and Zack Ryder. Would've preferred it whichever Bella it was didn't dominate the vast majority of the match, if Natalya was in control for more than thirty seconds it may have been at least slightly entertaining. I did like the apron spot that cause Nattie to lose control and of course the fact that Natalya won but it's not enough to save the match.

Best Vs. Beast
Best match of the year? Maybe, it's definitely close. Unfortunately not a perfect score and for really three reasons. #I) CM Punk going after Heyman unprovoked instead of continuing on Brock very early on in the match. Blue, Punk's character isn't suppose to be an idiot. I understand his personal problems with Heyman but he's up against Brock freakin' Lesnar, you'd think he know five moves aren't going to keep him down for long, especially when you just take your time getting to Heyman. Which brings me to #II) Later in the match when he was chasing Heyman, he was slowly walking towards him while Heyman was running. Okay, this bothered me less because Punk was just taking his time and being idiotic, at least it was provoked this time. It irritates me because it was one of the most obvious F-5 set-ups I've seen since Brock came back. The second that spot started I knew exactly what was going to happen because I've seen this spot happen constantly. Finally, #III)I just didn't care for the triangle choke spot. It was alright I guess but I just wasn't able to buy that Lesnar was actually having that much trouble with it and it went on for too long.
But ultimately these are nitpicks because when you get down to it, there just aren't as many things as entertaining as watching Lesnar utterly destroy someone. I loved the way Punk fought back because for the most part it was really smart and had some clever and cool counters, like the Kimura counter and the F-5 counter which I loved. I loved when Punk held onto Heyman to get out of the F-5 and I just really loved the whole match. These two threw everything at each other which worries me because I see no feasible way for them to top this match. It's not a perfect score, but it's probably as close as we've come this year (at least in term of PPVs).

Stop It Here WWE
When Dolph & Big E were competing it had a nice fast pace and a decent amount of energy. So even though it wasn't enjoyable per say, I could appreciating it for those qualities, and didn't feel like much of my time was being wasted. This was not the case when Kaitlyn & Aj were in the ring. It sucked but I'm moving on. Take a cue from me WWE and do the same.

Everything Daniel Bryan
This is including the post-match events as well, which are just great story developments and raise the match score a point (since part of the reason the match went that way was to set up the post-match stuff, obviously, so I figure it's fair to include it as part of the score). It was good, honestly I don't have much to say about it, it wasn't one of the better matches but I loved certain things about it. I loved when Bryan locked in the STF and everything that followed that, with Cena struggling to get out and once he does Bryan starts dominating him with something else. Loved the spider superplex. Loved the finish clearly. That's about it, it was good, enjoyed several other aspects of it but nothing to write home about outside of what I mentioned. Not trying to crap on it, just didn't love it as it seems most others did.

*Edit*

On second thought, I'll be removing Bryan/Cena from this match list next PPV. The reason it got an eight instead of a seven for me was because of the post-match stuff and while I think it makes sense to include it for the PPV rating (as you have to incorporate the ending of the PPV into the equation) it doesn't make as much sense to when you're judging it solely as a match since obviously, Randy cashing it wasn't apart of Bryan vs. Cena. I'll leave the match ranking as is to show where it would've ranked had I counted the post-match but next PPV you'll see it removed from the list and will be replaced with Del Rio/Ziggler at MITB at #10 (though hopefully some match will replace it so if that happens you won't see it).
