It’s been a while since I last posted anything so first and foremost, hope everyone is doing well...
As far as the show last night, I do agree with most of the points already made by our fellow members above. This indeed was below average and felt nothing less than another day in the office, with little to show for and practically nothing that we could consider memorable. Aside from the obvious lack of creativity, almost everything felt rushed and this is probably the first and only time I will dare say it needed to be a three hour show.
Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had enough of three hour shows every week for God knows how long but this was supposed to be a special occasion with Smackdown celebrating a milestone so last night could have easily been one of those rare exceptions where you could go for an extra hour. I feel that had they had that extra hour, they’d be able to come up with much better ideas for the show and most importantly have that added luxury of time to execute. Instead, we got exactly what Dr. Hoxo Jr and CM Punk accurately described in their posts above.
Talk about misuse of the Undertaker (like, 4 minutes, 3 of which was his entrance, only to utter three words for something that felt totally out of place) or other aforementioned legends. I also found it odd that the Rock didn’t show up considering, amongst others, he was the one that came up with “Smackdown” to begin with.
Becky Lynch I thought was one of the brighter moments of the show (I love her every week even more), which pretty much featured two things I feel are worthy of discussion:
1) The Bar winning the tag straps only for the reason this could very well be Sheamus's last run. Granted, they did add some intrigue with Big Show oddly involved but to me, it's all about Sheamus, especially if this does indeed end up being his final run due to the injury he is currently suffering.
2) The "announcement" of Batista vs. HHH at Wrestlemania. Sure, they didn't actually say it but...did they really have to? And for those that may be wondering, I will simply once again remind everyone of one of Vince's golden rules, as in "NEVER tease something you eventually won't be able to deliver". That being said, last night wasn't just a teaser; that was confirmation....
