It's a new year, yes it is - and happy new year to everyone by the way - but as far as RAW is concerned, sadly, it's the same old shit, yes it is. But...who's fault is that? Who? Who? Who?
Well, all you have to do is go back to one of my most recent posts where I explained how these obsessions WWE have are clearly hurting the product and there's your answer. Last night was another good example of just that and even if there were some enjoyable parts of the show, I personally found it impossible to go past a 3/10. Sure, the segment with Titus was quite entertaining, the Last Man standing matchg between Strowman and Zayn was good and Corey Graves is always gold on commentary but a few little things here and there can't be enough for a 3 hour show, especially when it's the same old shit or when certain shit just don't make any sense. Examples:
- Stephanie talking down to Bayley, being just...ordinary. I mean, how many times will they recycle this same storyine? No need to go too far back; just replace Bayley with Daniel Bryan and "ordinary" with "B+ player" and...there you have it...
- Speaking of, how did we go from building Nia Jax as an unstoppable monster to her simply being pinned cleanly on a RAW. Sure, the finish was good with the Bailey to belly from the second rope but still, underwhelming. Idk, maybe it's because we all knew that Bailey would be winning anyway? Quite frankly, why even bother wth a number one contenders match to begin with?
- The whole Enzo, Cass and Rusev angle. Just a complete waste of time and I'm not counting Jinder (what the fuck is he been drinking lately) since he's just enhancement anyway so nobody really cares anyway. Why couldn't Rusev still be the US Champion and why is it that Enzo and Cass are doing all sorts of things other then being involved in, I don't know, the fucking tag team championship picture.
- How many more times will we get KO versus Rollins and Roman versus Y2J?
- God forbid Roman submits to anyone and God forbid he loses a match. But no, of course his ONE spear is the most devistating move in all WWE and no other finisher move is good enough to keep the big dog down. Same old shit, different day...
- Everything about the final segment. To me, this was a waste of a Goldberg appearance and as we all saw, by the end of it, it was just another effort to make Roman look good. If this ain't an obsession, I don't know what its. How many legends will be sacrificed in order to make this guy supposedly look good? They did with the Rock at the Rumble (and we all know how that went), Triple H tried it himself at Wrestlemania (we all know how that went), now Goldberg.
So, they play this stare down between Roman and Goldberg like some teaser, yet, caughing, caughinhg, KO is still the Universal Champion. But of course, who gives a shit about KO? It's all about Roman, right? Roman Reigns, your proud United States Champion who came out for that final segment....WITHOUT his belt. Yeah, real pround champ...
And by the end if, your top monster Strowman eats a double spear for shits and giggles and we get another stare down between Roman and Goldberg as I'm sure Vince, Dunn and co were cumming backstage...
Yeah, it's a new year, yes it is....
