Rate the first Raw of the New Year and make sure to respond and let us know what you thought of the show!

Opening

After sporting a short haircut, Mick Foley was joined by Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens, who challenged him on his decisions and accused him of abusing his power. Foley gave Kevin Owens a talk show segment with Goldberg as his first guest. Stephanie McMahon came to the ring and said that Foley did not abuse his power. However, she was angry that Smackdown beat Raw in the ratings. A match was made for the US Championship, Roman Reigns defending against Chris Jericho. Stephanie added the stipulation that the title would change hands on either a count out or a disqualification. Jericho and Owens requested that Seth Rollins be banned from ringside to prevent him from interfering. In response, Stephanie created a match between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins, with the loser of that match banned from ring side.

Seth Rollins vs Kevin Owens

The loser of this match would be banned from ring side for the US title match later in the show.

Kevin Owens hit Seth Rollins with the ring bell and he was disqualified. As a result, Owens was banned from ring side for the US title match.

Cesaro vs Karl Anderson

Karl Anderson defeated Cesaro by pin fall.

Last Man Standing Match: Braun Strowman vs Sami Zayn

Braun Strowman defeated Sami Zayn when Zayn couldn't answer the ten count.

New Day Promo

The New Day came out to make some comical resolutions. They were joined by Titus O'Neil who asked to join the New Day. After some goofing around by O'Neil, Xavier Woods insulted him and challenged him to a match. O'Neil punched him and then accepted the match.

Titus O'Neil vs Xavier Woods

Xavier Woods defeated Titus O'Neil by pin fall.

Bayley and Stephanie

Bayley talked to Stephanie, saying she understood why her victory over Charlotte two weeks earlier was expunged but didn't know why Dana Brooke was made the referee for the rematch. Stephanie told Bayley that she didn't want her on Raw and she was nothing special, she is just Bayley. Bayley confirmed that she is indeed just Bayley and she is fine with that. Stephanie then put Bayley in a number one contender's match against Nia Jax with the winner facing Charlotte at the Royal Rumble.

Drew Gulak vs Cedric Alexander

Gulak defeated Alexander by pin fall when he got distracted when Tony Niese and Alicia Fox got involved in an altercation outside the ring.

United States Championship Match: Champion Roman Reigns vs Chris Jericho

Kevin Owens is barred from ringside during this match. Champion's advantage has been removed from this match.

Roman Reigns retained the US Championship by pin fall.

The Brian Kendrick vs TJ Perkins

TJ Perkins defeated Brian Kendrick by submission.

Handicap Match: Big Cass vs Rusev and Jinder Mahal

Rusev defeated Big Cass by pin fall.

Raw Women's Championship Number One Contender Match: Bayley vs Nia Jax

Bayley defeated Nia Jax by pin fall when Sasha Banks provided a distraction

The Kevin Owens Show with Guest Goldberg

Jericho announced his entry into the Rumble, much to Kevin Owens' chagrin. They were interrupted by Goldberg who immediately got into a heated discussion with KO and Jericho. They were interrupted by Paul Heyman, who said that Lesnar was going to go through everyone at the Rumble. Goldberg then interrupted Heyman and said he was going to win the Rumble and beat either Owens or Reigns at WrestleMania after he won the Rumble. He was, in turn, interrupted by Roman Reigns who was about to confront Goldberg. Reigns was then interrupted by Braun Strowman who claimed he was going to win the Rumble. Goldberg and Reigns double speared Strowman as the show then ended.

I am giving this show a 5. The highlight was probably the last man standing match. I also enjoyed Titus O'Neil acting like a member of the New Day.

I was pretty amused when I said that Jericho should try and use the Eddie Guerrero chair trick to win the US title from Roman and then five minutes later, he did just that... only with the US title. I thought the chair trick was an obscure enough reference that it wasn't going to happen. It was pretty neat to call something so unusual. But also, this isn't the first time in the past few weeks that I made a suggestion in the chat that then took place on the show....

I think Vince is watching our chat.

And I'm going to use this time to express what I would
like to do with the ladies of the RAW women's division.

~ Alicia Fox: Help her sought through her clothes closet at home.
~ Bayley: Go to a theme park.
~ Charlotte: Go shopping for gym clothes...especially leggings.
~ Dana Brooke: Go to an actual gym and (watch her) work out.
~ Emma(lina): Go for a beach picnic.
~ Lana: Nothing...I prefer not to be crushed.
~ Nia Jax: Family barbecue with The Anoa'i family.
~ Paige: Nothing...because Del Rio would hurt me.
~ Sasha Banks: Whatever it is a "Boss" does I guess?
~ Summer Rae: Have her teach me how to dance.

There...I'm done...

I thought it was a cool show........Even tho I know it won't happen I still don't like the thought of it being a Roman vs Goldberg at WM.

Fuck.... that video is depressing.
BUT! If there's anything positive we can take away from this.....
Atleast the wwe acknowledge that we the fans want 2 hours. JBL said the contract is until the end of 2019. We're still practically 3 years away from that, but maybe..juuuust maybe, they will consider it. If the ratings decline more and more, especially in the 3rd hour they just might.

Don't want to get my hopes up though.

Anyways on to the raw at hand.

Aside from the 3 hours....
It wasn't too bad of a show overall.
I'd rate it a 7. I enjoyed most of it and I like the buildup to the rumble.
On a side note: I watched the main event from last week like right before raw started tonight, and seeing owens shirt I said to myself hmm they should do a Kevin Owens show segment... low and behold they did just that this week. Which was pretty decent. Goldberg seems like he's trying a little too hard at times but whatever. Then reigns came out and I was like awww what a way to ruin it. But then when strowman came out and reigns and goldberg looked at each other I was like fuck yes double spear double spear... yes! Double spear! That was kinda cool.

Surprised that bayley beat nia. Kinda disappointed in a way.

Laughed hard at titus O'Neil when he was like "you're the weakest link" "who...who..you!" In that high pitched voice. Laughed so hard I woke my baby back up I had just got to sleep. Wife was annoyed.

Glad they're getting storylines going for the cruiserweights a little more.
The goal for 2017 should be to stop isolating them so fucking much.
Enough with their own colour scheme and shit. Just....enough. let it be part of the regular show, like it should be. They don't segregate any other division so stop with the cruiserweights.
Sure when it was "new" then whatever. Give them their own look and feel, let people get invested... but nobody really fucking cares. I literally saw nobody cheering when tj beat Kendrick. Like... it's just sad now.
They're trying to make it something special and it's not working. Maybe if they let it be part of the show then it will get more reaction. Idk.

Stowman/zayn ended how it should have. I liked that they took it backstage and everything. Strowman is my guess for rumble winner.
Unless reigns beats owens, then I wouldn't mind seeing goldberg win.
The spear-off would be cool.

I'm digging Cesaro and sheamus but I can't see them holding the belts for too long. Waiting for the club to win them honestly.

Steph talking down to bayley was cool. Perfect really.

And finally:
Sooo is Jinder Mahal on fucking steroids or what? Did anyone else notice the fucking veins popping out all over his arms and chest? If he's not on roids then I'll be surprised.

Man...Vince must have been so torn at that moment...
Both Reigns & Strowman in the ring opposite each
other...Well...may-be not so much as torn as...I'm
not going to finish that thought...

Okay just a few thoughts:
~ Stephanie talking down to Bayley was great...but felt forced...
~ Another Bayley vs. Nia Jax match...and I don't care...I can't believe
I'm about to say this...but Sasha should be the champion. I'm sorry
Charlotte...but its true. And to be honest...I don't think I can buy into
Bayley being a credible threat to Charlotte...but we all know that
Wrestlemania is approaching and Vince believes Bayley is where
the money is.
~ Wow...a show with John O'Clock & Pee Wee Heyman on it...I'd
rather insert a pineapple violently into my rectum than watch that.

Where yo' grandma stay.
Titus O'Neil was genuinely funny and Karl Anderson won a match so I'm good with that. +1000000 for that snuff film Braun and Sami starred in.

Vince at the end of the show be like :psycho:.

It was an alright show, really nothing worth remembering except for the last man standing match which i thought was good. I like how they are building Strowman, would have been awesome if he was the one standing tall but with The Big Dog and the Old Dog in the ring it was no surprise but it still was booked reasonably well.

I swear to god though, if Roman wins the title I'm not gonna bother with Raw anymore. [HASHTAG]#TeamSDLive[/HASHTAG] baybay!

And undertaker on Raw next week? so i guess he isn't just on SmackDown? I wonder if we get a teaser about who the opponent is. But looking forward to SDLive now, surely it can only be better than Raw!

I'm forgetting Raw exists

Emmalina claims the crowd is chanting her name and I'm claiming the crickets are chirping louder.

Rollins/Reigns vs JeriKO is lame now... how long is Vince gonna feed us this? You know what... just put the freaking Universal title on Roman and let's just move on already, I'd rather see this progress than be dragged out.

Just give us the Strowman and Reigns feud now... we all know it's coming anyway Vinny Mac, we'll watch.

Give Nia Jax something else dammit.

And the club is still ice cold- oh they won? Nah still cold.

New year, same old RAW. What a shocker. 4/10

- The opening segment was OK for what it was. JeriKO were fun as always. LOL'd at Y2J saying "You wanna put me in the cage of Jericho and lock me in, maaan."

- Rollins vs KO was solid, and the DQ finish made sense. It adds more fuel to the fire considering JeriKO split is on the horizon, and plus, KO didn't get pinned.

- Anderson vs Cesaro was good. Nice to see KA in singles action and overall, the win made sense as it sets up G&A as next title contenders.

- Strowman vs Zayn was a pretty damn good LMS match, I enjoyed it. It was by far the best thing on the show. They should keep Sami out until the Rumble where he comes out to eliminate Strowman.

- Skipped the women's division segments, as well as Rusev/Jinder/Enzo/Cass. Also, The New Day/Titus and Woods vs Titus was meh and boring.

- Gulak vs Alexander was OK for the time given, and then they had to further that deplorable angle with Fox. To hell with that, man.

- Reigns vs Y2J was solid and the outcome made sense, considering Reigns will be challenging for the Universal title at the Rumble. Also, loved Y2J pulling a trick from Eddie's playbook with the US title.

- TJP vs Kendrick was OK for the time given. Man, gotta love the divas cruiserweights still having 2-3 minute matches every week. That'll get them over. :bodallas:

- The closing segment was alright. That guy standing with the Kevin Owens Show sign on his head was great. As for everything else that happened, yeah, it was alright and added some heat to the Rumble.

Now... Save us, SmackDown Live!
