Young Bucks vs Chris Jericho and MJF **** A great opening match. I wasn't really sure who I thought would win and not sure I cared, but the match was fun.

Tag Team Casino Royale ***

Basic tag team battle royal. There were fun spots, but nothing important here.

Shida vs Mizunami ***1/2 I liked this match and it was a lot different than what you see normally from women's wrestling in the US. A lot of hard hitting moves

Orange Cassidy and Chuck Taylor vs Miro and Kip Sabian * Stupid to waste Orange Cassidy in a match this crappy

Adam Page vs Matt Hardy ** I was hoping from more from this match but meh

Ladder Match: *** Enjoyable. Nothing to jump up and down about but there were many good moments

Contract Signing ***** I am giving this one a huge rating not because Christian Cage was the best choice, but because it was a smart move. People are bitching all over the internet about this and it will just gain AEW exposure.

Street Fight *** I am not the biggest fan of cinematic matches but this one was nice and the entrance for Sting and Darby was brilliant.

Main event **** this was a fun match. It was very brutal in parts. BUT AEW is going to get a lot of shit about that exploding ring... I mean... it was like a couple sparklers went off and I am not exaggerating

Was not impressed... 3/10.

Understand I consider 10 as the best possible PPV that could've ever happened in history. Wrestlemanias ect. I'm marking this a PPV, not an episode of Dynamite or anything else. Which means it should've been their best possible effort & that it was not. Probably the lowest I've rated one of there shows.

Show was far too hyped for what it was in the first place. Beach Blast was free & there were things on there better than this.

The highlight of the show for me was Christian Cage. I think alot of people were let down because they were silly enough to believe it was Brock, Cena or The Rock ffs yeah right. He's a great asset whom Vince should've used way more than he did.

That being said, I think it's time to stop focusing on "who's coming in next" and focus on who we've got. Sure you can focus on both but if you do, the fans only focus on the one & it makes you look desperate. Unless it's a CM Punk or huge star like Brock, focus on who you have. They need

The opening tag was alright... not sure if it $60 alright though, could've seen it on Dynamite.

Battle Royal... I enjoyed it but again, I've seen better things on Dynamite.

Shia vs Mizunami - It was okay, could've been a little more fast paced & again... $60 they charged for this thing.

Orange/Taylor vs Miro & Sabian...
I seen Miro cut the promo whenever it was with no blonde hair & no comedy. Reminded me of when Rusev 1st debut, fighting Cena... was hoping he was going to be a serious monster again on his own, did not happen & this match was a joke. I'm really tired of comedy in wrestling.

Hardy vs Page
I like Big Money Matt... I love Adam Page. Should've been more to this with that build up & story. Again this wasn't a tv episode.

Ladder match was alright... I've seen better but it was one of the better matches on this card. Like the brass ring bit.

Street fight was alright... tried too hard to be Taker/AJ

Main Event...
it was okay but an okay PPV Main Event just isn't good enough when the rest of the card under delivered. And that ending... should've triple checked & I gotta say, this feels like just an excuse not too have an explosion. Would expect that from WWE.

CONCLUSION: I want my money back

The funniest thing about the Christian Cage thing was the silly reaction to all of it.

People have claimed that AEW said it was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. And although, yes, AEW did hype it, they did not hype it as much as people thought they did. Most of that hype came from fans, not from the company.

But yeah, the thing that makes me laugh is how they claim Tony Kahn claimed it was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. But what was claimed in actuality was that it was a HOF worthy signing. Tony claimed it was one of his favorite wrestlers of all time, not one of the best.

But yeah, people got so worked up about it being CM Punk or Brock, both ridiculous thoughts, and they created it larger in their mind than AEW did. SO anyone disappointed that badly over Christian has only themselves to blame for naively getting their expectations too high.

Personally, I thought it was great and appropriate for the amount of hype then.

...He IS a great wrestler though!

He's a tag team legend & would've had a bigger singles run if it weren't for Vince. I loved his TNA run

Just because Vince didn't think so or put him in WM Main Events doesn't mean otherwise. Very underrated, always has been

Yes he is a great wrestler. And he is one of my top five favorites of all time, actually. I wasn't saying he isn't great.

What I meant was not his ability, but his status. Christian won't be remembered as that upper tier that I always felt he deserved to be in.

Unfortunately, the majority of wrestling fans don't rank him among the greatest. And they falsely believed that Kahn had promised them someone they felt was one of the greatest ever. And he didn't promise them that.

"CM Punk may return!" reminds me of the We Want Sasha chants while Naomi wrestled matches for Team BAD back in the day, then when Sasha was wrestling those filler matches she got crickets. The aura of CM Punk would fade away fairly quick, his style doesn't really work in AEW. Would he still feel special by June? Would he have a machine to rage against? Who would he be cutting scathing promos on?

Speaking of such, who the hell wants Lesnar in AEW? We can daydream about getting away from the lazy and stale Suplex City. Guys like Angle and Batista are washed, there's plenty of underrated "Hall of Fame talents" in WWE like Ali/Ricochet but lol...

Christian can go, he's consistently shown he can work with the young talent, if you hear about Christian vs Darby Allin or Scorpio Sky or Ricky Starks it sounds fun and will likely deliver... Seems like the perfect signing tbh

The mistake that TNA made when they hired Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff is that they tried to make TNA more like the WWE. They missed the point that the reason they had a solid fanbase was that they were NOT like WWE.

I was a diehard TNA fan. Hell, I even bought the monthly pass on Itunes to download all of the Impact episodes. I didn't want TNA to be a WWE clone. When they ceased being an alternative, they have never fully recovered.

AEW doesn't need Brock Lesnar. Would he bring in viewers? Possibly. But if he came in, they gave him the belt and he wrestled part time, it would turn off a large portion of AEW fans (myself included) who like AEW because it's an alternative, not just a competitor.

And honestly, I wouldn't want CM Punk there either. Although I am a fan of his and not of Lesnar's, he's just not right for the company. He would likely also wrestle part time and probably be handed the title.

I am extraordinarily happy that the surprise was Christian.

I do have to point out this isn't WWE in 2005 either.
They don't need to punch up at Vince. Most the AEW viewers see the companies at about the same level at this point.
The shots at WWE have really reached their tipping point where it's feeling second-rate to keep doing it.
Make your anti-WWE buzz by making more Jon Moxleys, with guys out there doing their own thing and proving how much better people can be without the WWE handcuffs.

The end was the only let down
I have figured out how to make it look real though
In njpw I think it was
They had exploding metal bins outside that had fireworks and the like inside but what it did do was cover the ring in smoke
So my thoughts are
How do they make the end look real
One
They need noise and lots of it that’s impactful
So a spot like big show superplexing Moxley off the top rope that would collapse the ring would create the noise
If the four posts don’t go off with pyro(it looked silly anyway)
Then the spot should be easy to pull off as we have seen countless times on wwe
So we have the noise
Then all we need is the bins outside go off with a loud bang seconds before the impact of the superplex
So all you hear is the ring collapsing and ring filled with smoke
To add effect you gather dust from sweeping and leave it at the edge of the ring so when the impact of the ring collapsing happens you have dust and smoke as the after math
When it clears
There lays the two competitors

my only small issue is
What if the ring collapsing and h the ropes hit a wrestler which may be the reason we never see that spot in this match but I’m sure it could be figured out that they collapse in the opposite direction and not hit anyone
Also add some burn out logos around the ring and it’s sold
People would finally question the end of the exploding barbed wire death match

I honestly didn't notice them that much. But I do agree with your last sentence
