I did that as well but got caught eventually because straws are so hard to hide in 15 seconds sometimes when you're in class.

One thing I did was to make cartoon drawings on stacked paper pads and make them animate by flipping the pages fast. They were always some kind of medieval battle scene. Was never anything more complicated than stick figures. I am not that good of an artist.
