Steamboat won the US title on October 21st 1977 in Charleston, South Carolina from Ric Flair. He lost the title to Blackjack Mulligan on January 1st 1978 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He won his 2nd US title from Flair on December 30th 1978 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He lost the title to Flair on April 1st 1979 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Steamboat won the US title for a 3rd time on April 21st 1984 in Greensboro, North Carolina from Dick Slater. He lost the title to Wahoo McDaniel on June 24th 1984 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He won his 4th title on August 24th 1994 from Steve Austin at Clash of the Champions XXVIII. He lost the title to Austin by forfeit on September 18th 1994 at Fall Brawl due to injury.

Rick Rude

Rude won the US title from Sting on November 19th 1991 at Clash of the Champions XVII. He vacated the title due to injury on December 1992.

Benoit won the US title on the August 9th 1999 Nitro from David Flair. He lost the title to Sid Vicious on September 12th 1999 at Fall Brawl. He won his 2nd title from Scott Hall who forfeited the belt due to injury on December 19th 1999 at Starrcade. He lost the title to Jeff Jarrett the next night on Nitro in a Ladder Match. He won his 3rd US title on August 21st 2005 from Orlando Jordan at Summerslam. He lost the title to Booker T on the October 21st 2005 Smackdown. He won his 4th title from Booker T on February 19th 2006 at No Way Out. He lost the title to JBL on April 2nd 2006 at WrestleMania 22. He won his fifth US title from Mr. Kennedy on the October 13th 2006 Smackdown. He lost the title to MVP in a 2/3 Falls Match on May 20th 2007 at Judgment Day.

I went with Ricky Steamboat. I was tempted to go with Rick Rude but in the end he only had the one title reign and I would have liked to see what he did if he had multiple title reigns.

Steamboat had a lot of important early reigns and then did really well in making Steve Austin credible. It's a tough choice but Ricky gets my vote.

Wow this would have been one of the greatest matches ever! I went with Rude in the end, he is the greatest US Champion in history IMO.
