I actually watched the free pre-show and it got me pretty pumped up for the PPV despite only focusing on 3 matches. Anyway, we then begin this event!

Extreme Rules

United States Championship Fatal 4 Way: Kofi Kingston (c) v MVP v William Regal v Matt Hardy

Well this was only really a match to get the guys on PPV and was not promoted at all, so I wasn't surprised about the lack of time it got. The action was fun while it lasted although there were a few botches such as a Tower of Doom spot and the ending, where Kofi didn't spin for the Trouble in Paradise. This was a solid opening match where all 4 men had some time to shine and there was actually some pretty funny action to start off. However, the lack of time and botches of major spots really took away the potential this had.

Rating: **1/4

Intercontinental Championship No Holds Barred: Rey Mysterio (c) v Chris Jericho

This started with a great promo by Jericho at the merchandise stand and he questioned why Mysterio's masks are marketed, before walking down to the ring and threatening to knock one fan out. Funny stuff. The match begins with some great fast paced action and there are some nice spots but nothing too memorable. However, Jericho almost rips Mysterio's mask off in a submission hold and his face is exposed. The end comes where Jericho dodges a 619 and ripes Rey's entire amsk off before pinning him. Mysterio runs off holding his face as Jericho holds the title and the mask in his hands. Great end that played off the storyline these two have, and great match as well.

Rating: ***3/4

Samoan Strap Match: CM Punk v Umaga

Well you could tell that there were going to be limtations with the stipulation at hand, but these two men worked around it well. There was a thing in the corner of the screen showing who had tapped which corners and the guy controlling it was asleep, as there was a 10 second delay, lol. Anyway, they used the strap well in this match and it was something you don't see every day. Both men had their moments and there were some alright spots. The finish was good as Punk had tapped 3 corners but then Umaga pulled him and and went for the Spike, but Punk reversed into the GTS and then tapped the turnbuckle for the win! Alright match, though the rules got confusing at times.

Rating: ***

ECW Championship Triple Threat: Christian (c) v Tommy Dreamer v Jack Swagger

Well I was partially distracted for this match so I didn't get to watch absolutely all of it. What I saw was the first major weapon action of the night but I would have liked to see more Hardcore stuff, maybe Dreamer bringing out a table. The triple threat rules play well as no guy is left out, and Tommy captures the ECW title after a DDT on Dreamer. He celebreates emotionally with the crowd, who were more into him than Christian. Decent match, with the hardcore aspect being the main focus and providing some good spots.

Rating: **3/4

Miss Wrestlemania Crown Hog Pen Match: Santina Marella v Vickie Guerrero (c)

I didn't have high hopes going into this match, but it exceeded all my expectations. Vickie puts Chavo on her side and he reluctantly brawls with Santian with both getting pushed in mud and Chavo beign thrown into the hay among the pigs, who i presume shat in there. Vickie is tagged in and goes to pin Santina who kicks out. Chavo goes to throw slop at Marella but he/she preditably ducks and it goes all over Vickie. Vickie is pissed but Snatina throws her into the mud and pins her for the win and the crown. This was kept relatively short and was actually quite funny. Surprisingly, it was better than the two matches to come following.

Rating: **1/4

Backstage, Chavo and Vickie walk to meet Edge, and the married couple get into a heated argument. Vickie says Edge will be doing it alone tonight and Edge says she better get a good divorce attorney. Interesting.

WWE Championship Steel Cage Match: Batista v Randy Orton (c)

Orton takes 8 minutes to make his entrance and then we start this match, which is sure to be boring. The match begins with Orton immediately trying to escape and he almsot does, and I would have been happier if the match ended there. What we got was an incredibly boring squash in Batista's favor with a few mediocre spots thrown in there. I'm tempted to give this a lower rating but the cage was utilized well and the finishing seqence was pretty good. The WWE should realise that after 3 bad to average matches that these 2 guys just don't have chemistry.

Rating: **1/4

Submission Match: John Cena v Big Show

Wow, this went even longer than the previous match and man was it awful. It was what seemed like half an hour of Big Show dominating Cena with boring submissions (though a few cool moves) and then John making 10 second comebacks only to be thwarted again. The main story was Cena not being able to apply the STF and instead of debuting a new submission hold that is actually true to it's name, there is a cop out ending with Cena tying up (hardly) Show's foot in the ropes. My dog fell asleep during this match, and it was hard not to do the same.

Rating: *1/2

World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match: Jeff Hardy v Edge (c)

Wow, but not the wow that I meant in the last match. This is what I thought it would be and what Jeff Hardy said it would be- and epic match that will be talked about to years to come. I'm not overrating this either as I was tempted to give it 5 stars, but this is a definite MOTY candidate, possibly the best match so far. We saw some alright wrestling between these two to start off before the ladders were brought in. And boy, do these two know how to work with ladder. There were about 20 scattered around the ring and it almost seemed like they used each one. There were heaps of awesome spots, such as both men crashing through a ladder parallel to the floor, a mid air spear countered into a mid air Twist of Fate and a face first suplex through an upside down ladder which snapped shut, just to name a few. The ending sequence was nice with Edge being stuck in the ladder and having to watch Hardy claim the prize. Truly a trstament to how great these two men are in the ring.

Rating: ****1/2

However, the night is not over as when Hardy celebrates, CM PUNK comes out and yes, he is CASHING IN THE BRIEFCASE! Punk nails a GTS but Hardy kicks out and gets an inside cradle for a huge near fall. However, Punk nails a second Go to Hell and Hardy is out after a 1 minute title reign. CM Punk celebrated to close the show, and must be glad the crowd aren't booing him.

Well this show was sort of up and down. There was a potions of the crowd at ringside who were cheering for all the heels which was pretty funny, as only 1 heel won in the entire show. That isn't really a good thing to tell the truth, as Orton could have done well to win. Hardy, Batista, Dreamer, Jericho, Punk and sort of Santina won titles tonight which is a shocking amount. There was an epic match to close the show, but the rest was only average, and included two shockingly bad matches that were promoted very heavily in Batista/Orton and Cena/Show.

Rating: ***1/4 (because I still haven't gotten over that ending)

You clearly overrated Santina vs Chavo but I guess it was just because of the comedy value.

As for Big Show vs Cena, I actually found it better than their JD match. Then again, it was a submission match, and they wrestled the same match expect without pinfalls. They could have used better another type of stip, just for logic sake. But the match itself wasn;t as bad.

Orton vs batista was just frustating. First off, I hate how they use Batista to kill promising title reigns (Y2J, Orton), but that isn't a major issue as I said on the chatbox, as I see this title reign as a catapult for HHH vs Batista. But it was frustating because this was the first match I was able to see in full because of the lack of streams...and it made me fall asleep. I opened my eyes every now and then and all I saw (or heard) was Orton running away and getting squashed by Batista.

However, Punk nails a second Go to Hell im.
In the words of Peepshow....

I didn't see the PPV, but from the results I read, it sounded up and down, like you said. Cena/Show sounds like absolute shit, and I have to agree that Orton and Batista have no chemistry. I like both guys, but man, they just don't work well against each other. I'm glad about Punk winning. The last match sounded great.
Overall, other than Punk winning, I'm glad I didn't order this. Gotta sve up for the UFC PPV.

Pretty good review, although I feel that you really overated the Main Event, while it was good and everyone had high hopes to it and the build up was good it was quite dissappointing to me and actually a bit of a let down. There was nowhere near as much action as I would have expected and there were a few botched spots, the twist of fate in midair didn't even look like a twist of fate. Not a terrible match but I don't think it was a ****1/2 match. That's my thoughts on it anyways.

I was really let down by this PPV, the Santina shit sucked, Orton/Batista and Cena/Big Show were both bad again not to mention Batista winning and then the US/Strap Match and ECW title matches were also a bit of a let down, while they were both decent and had certain moments they all had something which made them less special, fatal 4-way had way to many botched spots, ECW title match didnt get as much time as it should have and the strap match just didn't let Punk or Umaga showcase all of their skills.

Best part of the show would definitely have to have been the Jericho promo and then him Vs Rey, everything about it was great. Jericho talking is instant greatness and the match started off quick and flowed well from start to finish, heaps of high spots and you can tell the two have great chemistry. The ending to the match was also a great way to keep the feud going, Jericho un-masked Mysterio! Although I didn't want Jericho to win the IC title again, the way he did it makes it better. Should be good seeing where they go from here.

Tommy captures the ECW title after a DDT on Dreamer.

He beat himself? :shifty:

Show/Cena was alot better than what you're rating it. I thought it was pretty good, 3 stars atleast.

The cage match was just awful though.

I do that every time. :(

He was going to name the GTS to Go to Hell before the WWE made him change, and it would've been a much more epic name tbh.

3 stars? You're kidding me. That 19 minute shitfest was lucky I didn't label it as a DUD. If you like to see Cena get squased for 20 minutes and make around 40 5 second comebacks only to get stuck back in some sleeper hold, then you will like this match. Speaking of sleeper holds, Cena can't do one.

Also, the Cage match was only 7 minutes which is very surprising, as it was pushed as the biggest feud on the PPV.

Btw, I almost forgot the best part of the PPV.

Goldust @ Vickie Guerrero: You smell like sh...shit...shitake mushrooms!

Batista is injured again, so that's why it was kept short.

Personal prefrence, I guess. Cena wasn't squashed, it was pretty back-in-forth. Suprised me that it didn't suck. I enjoyed it.

Good review!
My notes:
1-Cena botched the STF (couldnt keep Big show's feet stuck between the ropes).
2-Jeff Hardy botched when he was supposed to climb the ladder but the ladder collapsed ad the ladder was actually bind.
3-Orton running around made the steel cage match lame.
4-Letting Jeff Hardy reign for couple of minutes was frustrating and Punk winning it will only lead to him turning full heel now.
5-The pigs match was funny but they should have used the surrounding more (pigs should have been around them not locked in another chamber).
6-most titles changed hands is a first and it was surprising to all fans.
7-still no presence of HBK, Taker, HHH in PPVs but this one still delivered.
8-Kofi Kingston performed very well and I think that he will climb up the ladder to be the next Jeff Hardy (black Hardy lol).
9-I would give this PPV 3 and a half star out of 5. Was good but the botches were crucial.
10-no number 10 >_>

Awesome review. I agree pretty much on all of the ratings except the hog pen shit obviously.

This PPV made no sense at all though besides the first two matches, at least when you saw it for the first time.

Never been a fan of Dreamer and would have liked to see him just leave, but oh well. Only thing that bothers me now is that Christian may not be on PPVs if they give Dreamer some new stuff.

And lol @ Punk. How awful. At least he got booed, so hopefully a heel turn is inevitable. The name Go To Hell owns. They won't use the name though, since it has a CURSE WORD in the name (oh noes).
