Well, from what I saw on WWE.com, Orton's speech on the champions (apart from being fucking awesome. I was actually entertained, and interested in what he was saying) brought out Punk, for a few words. Punk exclaimed he was going to win the BR that night, the the CS at Unforgiven.

Now Orton was ring side for the BR, and clapped when Punk lost it. I have the awesome feeling in my gut that this will boil into a great fued, when Orton returns.

I dont know if the second half of this will go the way I want it to, personally. That is - Punk loses the title at Unforgiven. This would allow for Orton to come back, saying in simple terms "haha, i told you so" the whole 'jealous' thing could get thrown around, and with some "clever" work from the wwe creative team, we could see Orton/Punk at the following PPV.

I only noticed this when I began typing this thread, but if Punk loses the title at Unforgiven, it may be a bit of a stretch of time for Punk to lose the title, then for Orton to come back and fued with him. Possibly have Punk fued with the new champion til the next PPV, have him lose again - just give Orton something else to use.

They could play Orton's injury, and time away from the ring for Punk, having Orton have a little ring rust, that could give Punk the edge. Otherwise, they haven't got much to go on.

I just feel that Orton could be the one, as a super heel that he is, to push Punk up from the Underdog ME guy that he currently is, to a semi-proper ME guy. Plus, the two clearly have michemistry, and I think they'd put on a show in ring.

Thoughts?

A feud between the two would be something just short of amazing. The only problem is that if Orton returns and then loses to Punk right away it makes Orton look weak. Although if they carried the feud on for a little bit it would probably make them both look good in the end. So yea as for the feud. We can only hope but it seems almost impossible that WWE would pass it up.

The interaction between Orton and Punk was interesting to say the least. In my opinion, it would be the perfect fued, and as Knicky said the one that will finally elevate Punk.

Punk has been champ for over two months and has yet to face a top tier heel. He has basically been in a one sided feud with JBL that has literally gone no where due to JBL's diminished ability to make anyone care.

Its becoming increasingly obvious that Punk will retain the belt until Orton gets back. Jericho will probably be involved with HBK for a while longer. The feud is still hot. The only other option would be to give the belt to Batista, but they won't go from one face to another. The scramble makes it easy for Punk to retain and still make Batista look strong. I see Batista dominating, then getting screwed by JBL, setting up that feud. It will allow Punk to win in the end.

I'd like to see Orton and Punk have a good long fued. Their styles and characters contrast perfectly. Orton, the cocky third generation star who was handed everything on a silver platter and desitined for fame. Punk, the blue collar type who has had to work for everything he has. Not to mention, the feud will be focused on both their desires to be the best. Those are always the best feuds in my opinion.

Although Orton will probably take the strap, this feud can still elevate Punk if the WWE books it properly.

Also, that was one of the best Orton Promo's in recent memory. Everything he said was relevent and spot on and he made very title seem important. Its time Orton became dominant and proves without a shadow of a doubt that he is the top guy. I hope he can keep it up and I hope he continues to target heels and faces alike.

They could just have Punk retain until Orton gets back. It should only be another 2 or 3 months at most.

I've been dreamign of this feud for a while now.
And what makes it great is it looks liek they wpn't jump to it right away, but sorta let it build for a while, and tease it liek last week.
Firstly, the feuf would be great, because they are two polar opposites, which always makes the fans choose sides.
And not to mention,t he match just seems like it would sell great, and both guys are well above average in the ring.

Well Orton and Punk are two of my favourite superstars and I reckon WWe would probably start the feud by having Orton return at one PPV with Punk facing, let's say Chris Jericho. Have Orton surprisingly return and screw Punk out of the title and then have Orton back out of several challenges from Punk, saying he is not fully healed (in reality he is but he is just faking it) and after Punk loses his rematch at the following PPV have Orton come out and deliver a brutal beatdown and then at the following Raw have Mike Adamle says enough is enough to Orton and that he's going to have to return to the ring and then the feud would gradually be built from there with matches and promo's until WWE decides to finish it and it should be enough to make Punk look like a legit ME'er.

I reckon if you put these two into a feud they could really bring out the best in eachother as they both have great ability in the ring and on the mic and I think that if the feud is done well enough then Punk could possibly be a permanent shoe-filler for Cena but maybe I'm just getting too far ahead of myself.

If they book this feud right and let it build up over time. Say like they have with HBK/Y2J this could be awesome, I think that Orton and Punk could really work well and put on kick arse matches. I am really looking forward to this happening. I just hope they book it right and don't rush it. This could be great for Punk elevate him to ME status.

Orton vs Punk should happen but for the title, with CM Punk as the champion, so I don't agree with the scenario of Orton screwing Punk out of the belt.

Besides, Orton vs Punk for the belt could elevate Punk as a big underdog, as I also see Rhodes and DiBiase playing a factor on Orton winning the belt back eventually from Punk

If I were to decide, Punk would drop the title to Orton. Is it just me, or does Punk just not have the X-factor that Orton, Cena, HHH and Batista(yes the blotcher) have. He's becoming too stale in terms of his speeches and it doesn't impress me at all. Orton should reclaim the title for another run, while Punk returns to the upper mid card, turn heel and return to the ME scene.

As mentioned, this should be a great fued. My problem with the fued i think it may be a little bit predictable. If i had to guess, if Punk is still champ, when Orton returns, Orton is going to win the belt, pretty easily. But they have some Options on how to book this fued though. Myself, i think they've been rushing the fueds WAY too much. Maybe this is a little off subject, but look at the LACK of hype of Cena vs. Batista at SummerSlam. They had 2 shows to build up argueably the best match the wwe could put on at the time. Look at Randy Orton vs Chris Jericho, that fued was also wasted. So i actually wouldn't mind seeing Punk hold the belt till mania, to overcome the odds and beat Orton. Or have Orton win the belt, Punk gets a rematch at Mania. Likely? Not at all, but look at Jericho/HBK. They don't need to fight every ppv. They have the storyline going at all times though. I wish more fueds in the WWE/TNA could be like that.

^^^That's a great point, on the topic of extending the fueds etc. However, they can only do one, two fueds TOPS where they dont fight each PPV etc. Because, otherwise you'll end up with few HBK & Bec/Y2J segments at PPVs, and quite frankly those aren't wat u pay $30 for.

I still think they need to keep the fueds going for longer periods of time, more build ups, more faceups and changes each week.

Yep, this fued would be one of the best all year if WWE doesent screw it up or just forgets about it completly. I think they will though, if Orton comes back sooner than expected or around Survior Series then probley the Mon. after then Orton comes out complaining about ________(Whoever the title holder is atm, should be Punk) Then Punk comes out kinda like this week's raw then they have their match at next month's ppv or the week after on RAW.

I think that a feud between these two may have the possibility of a Steve Austin/Rock potential if the angles are done right. Of course, not to their levels, but definitely their potential of longevity and just a good idea.
