Would be fun to see if Punk became one of those bitter old ex wrestlers ala Bret Hart or more of a chill x wrestler like DDP. Most likely option A.

Sucks but Dolph's nailed it on the head. It can't be super bad if he's still wrestling with it. He needs to work 2 matches in 2 months, that's it, he shouldn't be wrestling on TV often anyway.

3:30 p.m. UPDATE

WWE.com has confirmed that Dr. Andrews completed a scope of CM Punk’s left knee. Andrews successfully trimmed a cartilage tear in Punk’s knee.

“CM Punk underwent knee surgery today to remove a piece of torn meniscus that had locked up his knee,” said Andrews’ colleague, WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann. “The surgery, performed by Dr. James Andrews, went smoothly and CM Punk is expected to make a full recovery.”

Source WWE.com.

So he doesn't seem to be out long.

A scope was my guess. He can stay off of it for a couple of weeks and be fine. When is TLC?

So he basically has ~12 days to get ready for one match and then a month + to get ready for his next? He'll be fine.

Let's be honest as well it'll be your typical Ryback throws him around for a while before something screwy happens anyway, it's not going to have a great deal of actual wrestling.

Punk is OUT of TLC:

Dave Meltzer of f4wonline.com is now reporting that the surgery was supposed to be minor, but now it’s looking like the damage was worse than originally expected and Punk won’t be wrestling in the main event of the upcoming WWE TLC pay-per-view as advertised.

Well since it's been confirmed by a reliable source I'd say there's nothing to see here. GG Punk.

I can't see them pulling Punk entirely unless absolutely necessary. I lean toward believing the WWE press release over believing meltzer.

I can see them working an angle to combine the Cena-Ziggler ladder match with the TLC match, thus lightening Punk's workload (as suggested earlier) and allowing him to "sneak" a win in the end, which was probably the plan in the first place since we're all fairly certain that the Shield will be interfering in the match regardless. They've gone too far to build up the Rock-Punk match at the Rumble for them to back off of it lightly now.

Of course, if he can't go at all, that's another story.

To be honest Punk/Ryback can easily be ditched if necessary, Zigs/Cena is obviously a main event caliber match so that'd be no problem. Although by the sound of things Punker will be fine anyway.

Punk being carried out of the ring for those interested.
