I hope you'd be better at it, he's apparently been trying to get Cabana in since 2011.

Shouldn't Punk just let Colt sell himself then? If Colt is anything it is an amazing salesman considering he has been able to make a good living off of working second rate indy shows for the last 4-5 years. He hasn't been in ROH in a long time since "funny doesn't equal money" and the most high profile place he's a regular is Chikara.

He's the DDP of the 00's in that sense.

It doesn't hurt to have friends in high places, the issue is they don't want Colt and Colt doesn't seem to want them too much either. Obviously the WWE has a huge appeal but he's seemingly happy being his own brand, I'm assuming it has something to do with him being a marketing guy in college ( I think he mentioned it in that shoot with Punk) and he's proud of the brand he established. It seems Punk wants to make it happen and Colt's just willing to go with it if that makes sense.

I see where you are coming from. Colt is happy doing his own thing and running his own brand but if Punk can make a WWE deal happen as a commentator he'd be happy to go along with it/wouldn't say no.

Plus as a commentator he could still do independents on the side since there isn't nearly as much travel. Lawler does independents and Booker T runs a school and a promotion on the side.

That's probably the middleground, one more thing I do remember from that shoot was Punk talking about how he felt like he was riding Colt's coattails alot of the time in their early career. I suppose this could be Punk's way of repaying that, this is going beyond the realms of reasonable discussion towards wild character speculation so I suppose we should leave it be here.

Righto. To change the subject but keep in topic. If Colt got signed as a commentator, would it be as Scotty Goldman or under another name.

I don't see him letting them own the name Colt Cabana, it's his brand and his has little else name value. His real name is Scott Colton (thanks Wiki) and if he's a commentator I'd rather he had a reasonable name so something like Scott Cabana works. It blends his real and past name, I'd rather forget Goldman.
