PS3 now $299, PS3 Slim in Sept

Effective today the 80GB PS3 is $299 and the 120GB is $399. The PS3 Slim is real and coming in September. It is 120GB and costs $299. Clearly the Slim is the way to go unless you want the better designed form that's shiny. But for you people who upgrade the HD you should get the fat one. Still I don't know why Sony has the 80GB priced with the 120GB. It must be because the fatter version still costs around $200-$400.

Well here is the Slim.

What do you guys think and now are you finally going to get the PS3? It was a better deal before because of Blu Ray but now it's a far better deal then the xbox 360 unless they drop the elite price.

Edit: The Slim is expected to hit stores on September 1st believe it or not. The fatty PS3's price drop actually starts tomorrow.

ehh i gots to fat ones.. i got one when it first cameout the 60 gig but it had the red light crap so i got the 2nd gen (iguess).. Slim looks cool and all.

The ONLY reason I would get a PS3 is because they're roughly the same price as a BLU-Ray player now, and I don't have one yet. But that may be a while before I get one because I'm reaping the benefits of cheap DVDs.

80GB was $400 and 160GB was $500. Yes the Slim has Blu Ray. PS3 games can't play without Blu Ray so it's impossible to be Blu Ray-less. The slim is obviously slimmer(30%), uses less energy, and comes with a bigger HD versus the 80GB.

wow you guys were getting ripped off then, cause thats the same price they were in Canada....and it sounds like from what I've been checking is the Canadian price is going down to the same as what yours have dropped to.

I didn't pay anything for my PS3. So the price drop doesn't bother me, however the size does bother me a little just cause it takes up a lot of space. So slim and less energy in this energy and green day and age is definatly a plus for Sony, so good for them.

yeah so you guys in the states are definatly getting ripped off on this. The PS3 80gig dropped to $299.99 Canadian as well and the 160gig is $399.99....and yes the new Slim will be $299.99 Canadian as well. I mean I know the Canadian dollar isn't horriable, but its not that good that it should be the same.

Sold the PS3 Phat to some guy I met off of Craigslist no less then 50mins ago. I have nothing but a shitty Wii, a dead 360, and a PSP.

I'm so lost. I'm gonna play OOT and then buy MM and play em on the Wii.

This Guy: Gamestop website says that the PS3 Slim ships on the 25th of August. Everybody else says ships Seeptember 1st. Help me out
