Problem?

Recently whenever I open a program I always get a "not responding" message...Sometimes it ends up responding (and takes a while), but other times it just doesn't...It happens with the internet at times too....Any suggestions? (I suck at computers so yea) btw I use vista >.>

I find whenever there's the sand-timer thing when stuff loads and you click a window it always has the (Not Responding) message whether it eventually loads or not.

How do I fix that?

Sometimes it doesnt load and other times it completely freezes my comp for a few minutes.

It does that with my firefox. I got to turn my laptop off after everytime I'm done with it, that usually solves the problem for me.

I get it a lot, just close everything and it should be okay in 10 or so minutes.
