activity + quality - dickishness = number of likes

That's the formula IMO. The more active and HQ you are, without being too much of a dick, the higher your number of likes is going to be. Thus, it does kind of show your value as a user.

Jonathan said likes weren't away to judges someone's quality so Crayo said :gtfo: and closed this thread like a dicktader ( :cornette: ) then he turned into a whipped lil bitch and re-opened the thread for Grammar to drop a :pipebomb: now it's a tribute thread to a Nazi of grammar :obama:

What about the Gohan factor? He'd be in minus figures if that formula was correct.

He's not being a dick on purpose though.....I think :dawg:

Post likes do reflect quality to a large extent but I would agree it's not an exact 100% science because the vast majority of posts that people make don't get liked if you look at it that way. Does that automatically mean that the majority of someone's posts are average or shit? No. Sometimes, a very simplistic post (sometimes just a half-funny joke or a smiley or whatever) gets liked, maybe two or three likes, although those kind of posts don't contribute nearly as much (like, at all) to the discussion that other posts that are actually on-topic do. How does someone get a like just for saying they don't want to see Rock and Cena again, anyway? (I'm not gonna name the user, just saying.)

And as conceited as it may sound, I know when I make a good/great post and when others do as well, even though a lot of those posts don't end up liked. Then there's that annoying time when sometimes you bring up a point and then someone comes up behind you and brings up the same point (and doesn't even articulate it any better) and they get their post liked and you don't. This has happened to me twice and a couple times to others that I know of.

And I'm not making excuses since I'm averaging about ten post likes every 100, plus twenty something more on top of it. That would put me up around 1000 post likes by the time I reach 10,000 posts. Not to mention I once got six post likes for one post just for writing one sentence. (I say this not to brag, but just to establish that I've no need to make excuses, I'm just making an objective point.)

I somewhat agree with this. I like a shit-ton of posts, generally speaking, but there's a reason for each one. Sometimes it serves as giving the poster a nod of approval or agreement, sometimes it's because I find a post witty and enjoy it so I click to like it. Sometimes it's HQ contribution, discussion, debate, etc., so I click to like it. I don't like a bunch of LQ posts or such. I "like" posts that I really "like," plain and simple. I've never seen that as being a bad thing. For me personally, HQ and HQ-witty members get more post likes, and that works. It still reflects on how overall likable the user is regardless of what the person said that garnered the "like" -- whether it's a wrestling discussion, review, live discussion, debate, or a joke.

I couldnt agree more with you madam
