Vince McMahon himself made the call to strip the Undertaker of the World Title. The feeling is that Edge makes for a better champion than challenger, and that the Undertaker as champion needs great challengers. Taker vs. Batista has been done a lot, and the feeling is that Edge vs. Taker isn't a "money PPV match."

---------------------------------------------------------------

I say the obvious thing to do would be to move someone over rather then stripping him and annoying every fan.

I feel cheated when wrestlers are stripped of titles as I like to see the whole championship reign.

It also sounds to me like we know now whose going to end up with the belt, which is very annoying. I try to avoid spoilers whenever possible. As I know it now though I thought I may as well share it with you.

Why not bring up some rookies to challenge Taker.

Remember when Taker VS Hardy in a ladder match?

Why have him win the belt in the first point. You can't just re-do what you did last year. This is a good example. Although i think Edge has run his course on SD as well. I'd say its time for Orton/Jericho/HBK/ J. Hardy/ Cena to make a move to SD.

Exactly. Insted of solving the problem, they had a rematch....Now there going to have another rematch....

Imagine Undertaker VS Chris Jericho..ME

Matt Hardy could of quite easily stepped up to the main event as well.

They're going to have to bite the bullet and push him eventually.

If Edge & Jeff Hardy can make the transition why can't Matt Hardy too?

I would love to see him hold the World Heavyweight Championship one day.

Matt Hardy v Edge for the title would be amazing. Their battles when Edge had an affair with Lita and Matt was sacked were probably the best of 2006.

He really deserves to get one over on him. Why was it that Edge got pushed on the back of it and not him?

Edge is a great wrestler but he's not leagues ahead of Matt Hardy, like the WWE would make you think.

Matt Hardy easily going to main event...I don't think so. He could, but would need some build up first.

I have to agree with VInce here. Edge works better as a champion, however, I don think that The Undertaker will regain the belt, and the solution in the end will be moving someone up to main event to challenge Taker instead of Edge.

What I do find funny is that WWE considers their Wrestlemania main event to not be a money PPV match.

I disagree with you about Matt Hardy but this a great point.

It was a completely illogical that they chose this match in the first place.

What it came down to was the streak over the storyline.

I am not saying Matt Hardy will not main event, I want him to be in the main event, but what I am saying is that he cannot do it right now. Edge made the transition, but it took WWE a year to build him, Jeff, he went through The Game right away to his push and one could argue he wasn't fully in the main event yet.

So, what I am saying is that Matt Hardy needs some build up first before coming main eventer, buildup that he doesn't have yet so he isn't ready, in a kayfabe-storyline way, to be main eventing

Taker is getting the belt back. At ONS he is wrestling Edge in YET ANOTHER rematch but this time, if Taker doesn't win he must retire...and I know for a fact that Taker isn't retiring at fucking One Night Stand, so it looks like he is getting the belt back

EDIT: Matt Hardy is not main event quality, and I dont think he ever will be.

Draw, disqualification, stripped again, interference, actually does "retire" and is then brought back within a week or so by someone else or brought over to Raw. Anythings possible with Vickie Guerrero at the helm.

Theres is so many ways that match could go. The retiring stipulation just makes you think its impossible for him to lose.

For example, how many times did Mick Foley lose "retiring" matches in his wrestling career. Tonnes.

Move Taker to god damn Raw if he isn't happy. Jesus, they do all that to make him champion and then go back and say it was a bad idea, wtf, Undertaker as champion period, since he is the greatest that he is, any challenger would be a lower calibur guy then he is, I don't know what they want, but Edge as champion isn't the answer either. They need that Draft.

^ (to viva) Good point, I guess I should have thought of it that way. But then again, if Taker loses he wont get the long World Title reign that I thought was the plan in the first place?

From the way the quote was written it sounded like Vince didn't think it through in the long term and it was a snap decision.

I hope i'm not the only one who thinks this is a really dumb reason...like people have said why don't we have people jump up and get their shot at the title...Like CM Punk for instance...He alread has the money in the bank...So they have a reason and a way...

It's quite obvious Undertaker is going to win the World title back at One Night Stand, I mean adding a retirement stipulation to the match is guaranteeing a 'Taker win because like Chessyarmy said, he won't retire at a "filler PPV" such as One Night Stand...

Hopefully this mean Umaga is going to be jumping brands soon and feuding with him over the belt during the summer. Also a Taker/Big Show program would be pretty solid too.
