I read it was not possible to add eggs to the game without it. I did see a method for ORAS which is now patched, so I think most are generating them into X/Y and transferring.

What do you need eggs for though?

To get the right natures and EV's on pokemon for competitive battles.

I just use PkHex. You literally create a Pokemon and it shows up in your PC Box.

Hmm, I guess homebrew isn't needed then. You do this with ORAS?
Wondering how much of the game I need to complete too.

I think you can do it whenever, but I suggest at least getting past the point where you get your Mega bracelet or whatever. Otherwise you won't be able to use Megas.
Also, this is a bit of an old method. So I'm not completely sure if it still works, but it should.
Hmebrew could be a better method though, idk.

Kinda the same thing between Nep & I, Nep being aDrive. The difference being I choked instead of getting out-lucked. Salamence came in clutch.
