The title of this summer’s Pokemon movie is “Pokemon the Movie: Everyone’s Story,” and a poster and a trailer are now available on the official website.

A special teaser for the movie posted in late 2017 and viewed more than 3.2 million times prompted speculation that the new movie could be related to “Pokemon the Movie 2000,” which was released in 1999 in Japan.

The sound of a flute played in the end of the teaser was similar to that of Melody’s flute featured in the earlier movie.

In addition, it was later announced that Pokemon Lugia, which appears in the 1999 film, will also be featured in “Everyone’s Story.”

The story is set in Fura City, where an annual festival is held to receive the blessed wind from Lugia.

In addition to protagonist Ash and his trusty pal Pikachu, the story focuses on Pokemon rookie and senior high school girl Lisa, braggart Kagachi, self-doubting researcher Torito, eccentric old woman Hisui, and Largo, a mysterious girl in the forest.

The 21st film in the Pokemon movie series will hit cinemas nationwide on July 13.

Nintendo has filed a patent application for a digital card format that could make trading card games even more exciting, and corresponding images and details sure make it sound like it will be used for something related to Pokémon.

On Wednesday, April 26, Nintendo submitted its application for a “non-limiting example game apparatus” that includes a “card display screen including an image of a card object” displayed on the apparatus’ screen. The image displayed on the card is a composite made of a background as well as a “color change image” that will differ according to “an attitude of the game apparatus” — this could point to the image changing when a monster is damaged in battle, reflecting their drop in health in real time
