PK Subban was one of my favourite players, his time in Montreal was special and the way he treated the community with his charity should've lead him to getting the C as the teams captain.

Hopefully he gets an analysis job because he was great doing that during the last seasons playoffs.

Genuinely surprised by this

An incredible player in his prime his best days were behind him. I honestly think he was getting frustrated with how he’s played the past few years as he was earning a reputation of slewfooting players. Though I believe a change of scenery with a different team would have done him wonders I do commend him for deciding to hang up the skates and focus on himself. Maybe we’ll see him again. It’s a shame his best years were relatively short compared to others but him in his prime he was one of the best in the league.

I think it is just a mix of not many contract offers this off-season and a desire to work on media projects. He is a charismatic guy for it and already seems to have something planned in the next year. I think he'll do great.

But it is pretty insane that 3 top-tier defensemen retire so close to each other. Chara is officially calling it and he is signing a one day contract to retire as a Bruin, and Keith Yandle is hanging it up too. Keith hits me a bit too because he played a year in the QMJHL for my hometown Wildcats and I watched him live several times. So it's pretty insane.
