We're getting closer to finding out who will be directing Johnny Depp in the fifth installment of Pirates Of The Caribbean. Three names have popped up as likely candidates.
According to Deadline, The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman's Fredrik Bond, Kon-Tiki's directing duo of Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, and Snow White And The Huntsman's Rupert Sanders are on the short list to direct Pirates Of The Caribbean 5. There are probably more on the list, but these three are probably the most gettable.
At this point, the Kon-Tiki guys seem to be the favorite. No decision has been made, but a director(s) will be chosen within the coming weeks, according to the report.
Johnny Depp is a lock to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. Who else will make a return from the past Pirates movies will depend on story scripted by Jeff Nathanson.
With the exception of the first movie, all the movies in this franchise have made over $1 billion at the global box office or very near it, so Disney will continue to churn out more of these as long as the money is still there. All the studio needs to do is keep to paying Depp "stupid money" to have him play Captain Jack.
Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 is set for release on July 10, 2015.
I think its time to let Captain Jack sail off into Davey Jones's locker once and for all. We don't need anymore. I feel these are not as good without Orlando and Keira.
