WWE star Chris Jericho posted the following in response to Paul Heyman's Twitter blog encouraging new talent to step up:

"I agree with @HeymanHustle diatribe and I would like to add one more piece of advice. To really make it in this business.... you have to be willing to take a chance. And if that pisses some people off than so be it! Stop being so nice. Nice doesn't cut it."

Agreed with what they all said but society is different now and this is the new WWE corporate environment too. It's not just the talent that needs to step up. When WWE suspends Jericho for that stupid flag crap, it sends a signal to everyone else: Don't try anything new, don't take chances.

Again it wasn't something that WWE did to be douchebags like people keep thinking he broke a law so they had to do whatever to show good faith esp if they wanna go back there in the future. Has nothing to do with how the company is today or whatever it was WWE having to do damage control of something is real serious down there.

As for this it seems anybody that has ever excelled at the end of the day took their career in their own hands in some kind of way. Whether it be cause of a character they pushed to death to management till it was okayed, or whatever. Something Punk brought up in a interview once was that just cause writers give you something don't mean you have to just go with that. Might piss people off initially but if it works more than likely it'll be worth the risk. So I get what Heyman is saying and he makes great points.

You don't have to go with it but a lot of guys have to stick to the script a lot and what they're given. Not everyone has the pull power or anything like that backstage like CM Punk, John Cena, Kane and other stars. They would be reprimanded for it. Guys like Ziggler where they sometimes have gone off script have been reprimanded.

Punk was saying he was ripping stuff up that they would give him before he the whole shoot promo Summer Of Punk stuff. Probably got in trouble but obviously in the end it paid off you just have to have the skills to be able to pull it off.

Very good points all around by everyone, as most of you said if its good then it doesn't matter what the writers think. I remember that Punk interview as well and as long as its good, Vince doesn't give a damn. If you are a top star, then it doesn't really matter to follow all the writers rules. You see Punk and hell even Ziggler could probably get away with it because he's becoming a big time star. Writers are honestly worthless when it comes to giving out promos. Austin did an interview last year that the best promos come from the heart and are full of passion.
