Orton Called “The Anti-Superstarâ€￾

- The October issue of WWE Magazine features Randy Orton as he reflects on his successful career. The official WWE website has released a preview of their interview with The Viper, who dubs him “The Anti-Superstar.â€

The article states, “In Orton’s mind, the fall from the top began when the fans stopped being afraid of him. Back in his hell-raising days as the wild-eyed, volatile IED-driven powerhouse, he could turn a fan’s legs to liquid with one cold stare—and they loved him for it. “They almost couldn’t put their finger on why they liked me, but they knew that they did because I had that look,†he says. “I came down the ramp and I didn’t smile. I didn’t pump my fist. I’d make six-year-old kids cry at live events just by looking at them before I got in the ring. I had this fear that I could put into the fans. But [now], I’m slapping hands, I’m kissing babies…instead of being my own person. I had something special there, and I’ve lost it, and I’m trying to get it back.â€

The interview also notes his battle for privacy and changing his current approach.

Usually don't pay much mind to this kind of stuff but I find it interesting that it was brought up and hoping this whole Anti-Superstar thing is gonna be a character change for him because for a lil while now he's had nothing going for him character wise.

Anti-Superstar = Anyone who had success in the attitude era.

Think of the things he does most of it was common place then. He's gotta have some dirt on someone though with all the stuff he has done to still be near the top.

They've been calling him this since his face turn really. I mean, he never really changed his attitude when he changed face, just started beating up different people and stopped punting guys in the head.

Calling him the Anti-Superstar because he is perceived to be an asshole outside of the ring.

Perception is never the truth tho.

Randy Orton is known to be a bit of a troublemaker and not many people backstage like him. There are a few videos of him on YouTube showing his horrible personality. I remember when Mr Kennedy botched a move during their match and Orton went mad. It was rumoured he went to management backstage and that was the end of Mr Kennedy's WWE career. Just goes to show what goes on backstage and how wrestlers egos tend to follow them out of the ring.

All things considered, Anderson nearly broke his neck with that suplex. I would be pissed too if I were Orton. Anderson sucks ass, it's no real loss. Last time I saw him he was CHUN-KY in TNA.

Would be good if this actually lead to something, some type of change in his character. Clearly he himself doesn't like it and with his pull surely he will be able to convince them to make a change.

It is about time for him to do another phase. Something while he can still compete at this level.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's a heel in time for WrestleMania as Sheamus is probably going to need a worthy opponent.
