Why would Cody ever turn heel anytime soon? He's the biggest primary star in the company and a major merch mover, and going through the last three years of bullshit from people only to turn his back on everything would be dumb.

I think the build up would have been cool if they kept up rock teasing cody to join him all the way up until mania with Cena telling him to follow his morals and not sell out for cena to actually sell out at mania.

Yeah that'd have been solid

Honestly, this would have actually made me interested.

Honestly them stretching it out to that degree with Cena giving Cody advice would of had me saying yup he's turning and me having the feeling just do it already imo.

I read yesterday that if Cena turned down the heel turn then Punk would’ve won the chamber and been the one to turn heel

Personally I don’t think there’s a need for him to turn.

He’s the Number 1 babyface, still gets loud receptions, sells a shit ton of merch.

Fans haven’t turned on him the way they turned on Cena after he was the top guy for a year. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

This is why I keep saying most organically over babyface in generations. He wasn’t the guy handpicked by the machine. The fans wanted him and still do. You don’t ever throw that away.

I heard the complete opposite. Punk was never considered. It was always Cena

I mean…

I think he was handpicked from the moment he came back. From that moment I think most people knew he would dethrone Roman. A lot of us just thought it would be at 39 instead of 40

Yes and no. He came in with momentum from outside and they wanted to see where that was, but where I think things really cemented was when he got hurt and worked that hell in a cell with Seth. Even then he didn’t win at 39 and things didn’t look certain he was coming back to the top. He kinda spun his wheels until Brock and even when he got that seal, they still considered pushing him over for a rock and Roman match. The fans had to scream to the WWE they wanted Cody.

All top guys still have to be chosen by the team, but what I mean is there’s a difference between someone the fans don’t want and WWE give it to them anyway, and someone that the machine and the fans organically get behind at the same time.

That’s the difference between Cody and Daniel Bryan. WWE a couple of times through Bryan and his fans a bone, but you can tell that they never had any attention of making him the guy and I think Cody might’ve come close to that if the fans hadn’t used their voice as loud as they did and we’re in an era where they actually listen to social media, somewhat.
