I'm quite the mark for Nolan, and Cillian Murphy is fantastic. So yeah, this has my attention. Looking forward to seeing a trailer.

Fifteen years after getting his big break in The Dark Knight, David Dastmalchian is reteaming with filmmaker Christopher Nolan. The actor is the latest to join the sprawling cast of Oppenheimer, Nolan’s upcoming historical film centering on J. Robert Oppenheimer, one of the fathers of the A-bomb.

Reuniting with Nolan marks a special moment for Dastmalchian, who is coming off of the biggest year of his career, with a breakout role as the Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad and a turn in Dune as the creepy Piter De Vries.

But back in 2007, Dastmalchian was juggling life in Chicago as a telemarketer, movie theater usher and theater actor when he saw a casting call for The Dark Knight. He auditioned for Nolan to play one of the men in bank heist scene, but did not land the part. Months later, the actor received a surprise call letting him know he’d been cast in a different role, the part of Joker henchman Thomas Schiff. The role gave him the chance to work opposite Heath Ledger, Christian Bale and Aaron Eckhart in a pair of memorable scenes filmed in Chicago and London.

Dastmalchian would become a favorite of Denis Villeneuve and work in the Ant-Man movies, and he traced it all back to Nolan.

“It all started with him choosing to let me be a part of that film,” Dastmalchian told THR for a 2018 profile. “How do you thank the person that changed your life so profoundly?”

After The Dark Knight, more than a decade would pass before he’d see Nolan again, when he happened to run into the filmmaker during an afternoon at a park. He indeed got to thank the director for changing his life.

His Oppenheimer role is being kept secret. The film began production this week, with Cillian Murphy at the top of a call sheet that includes Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Alden Ehrenreich, David Krumholtz and Kenneth Branagh. Universal has set a release date of July 21, 2023, for the film.

Datsmalchian recently joined the cast of 20th Century’s Stephen King adaptation Boogeyman and has wrapped production on Boston Strangler for the studio. In addition to acting, Dastmalchian is the writer behind Dark Horse’s Count Crowley comics. He is represented by Atlas Artists and Duncan Hedges at Hansen Jacobson.

Man, even Josh Peck is getting in on this film. Damn. :lol

“Drake and Josh” star Josh Peck has joined the sprawling cast of Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic “Oppenheimer.”

He will play Kenneth Bainbridge, a real scientist who was involved in the Manhattan Project, the code name for America’s effort to develop nuclear weapons during the second world war.

Cillian Murphy is starring as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the movie, which examines the physicist whose contribution led to the creation of the atomic bomb. Murphy will be surrounded by an A-list ensemble, including Emily Blunt as biologist and botanist Kitty Oppenheimer, Matt Damon as Manhattan Project director Leslie Groves Jr. and Robert Downey, Jr. as founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission Lewis Strauss.

There are at least a dozen other recognizable actors already on board. Florence Pugh will play psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie will portray theoretical physicist Edward Teller and Josh Hartnett will embody pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence. Rami Malek, “This Is Us” and “Sky High” actor Michael Angarano, “Solo: A Star Wars Story” star Alden Ehrenreich, Kenneth Branagh and Matthew Modine will also appear in the film.

Universal Pictures is backing “Oppenheimer,” which costs $100 million to produce. It’s scheduled to release in theaters on July 21, 2023.

In addition to directing, Nolan is adapting the screenplay from the Pulitzer Prize-winning book “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.

Peck rose to fame at a young age, first appearing on “The Amanda Show” from 2000 to 2002 and later starring alongside Drake Bell in the Nickelodeon sitcom “Drake and Josh” from 2004 to 2007. His recent credits include the Disney Plus show “Turner and Hooch,” an extension of the 1989 Tom Hanks film, as well as Hulu’s spinoff series “How I Met Your Father.” In intervening years, Peck built a following on YouTube and TikTok and acted in movies like “Drillbit Taylor,” “The Wackness,” “Red Dawn” and “Danny Collins.”

Peck will next star opposite Debra Messing in Netflix’s “13: The Musical,” which premieres later this year. And in a crossover event tailored for millennials, he is reuniting with his former “Drake and Josh” co-star Miranda Cosgrove in the revival of “iCarly,” which is gearing up for its second season on Paramount Plus. He’s also writing a memoir titled “Happy People Are Annoying.”

He is repped by UTA and Silver Lining Entertainment.

It's on my radar. I've been a fan of Cillian Murphy since watching 28 Days Later. And Peaky fookin' Blinders is the best British TV series ever made. So yeah. Looking forward to it.

Those visuals look gorgeous. Cillian Murphy is going to kill this role.
