I don't know how to feel on OJ Simpson's Passing at all. You can talk about his Career in Football where he was great, his Career in Films, or the Murder Case that was chaotic to the highest of levels. My head is spinning right now with thoughts and feelings.
This.
I'm not sad because the dude literally got away with murder, and wouldn't give survivors and victims the justice they deserved. It's relatively easy to separate the sporting accomplishments from the man.
But it's hard not to think it's the end of an era, and that's why the head is spinning. So many aspects of the murder, car chase and trial are etched in the memories. It really was a "where were you when" moment for many if us. Many of the moments have served as foundational memories of growing up in the 90s...we associate OJ and the trial to a certain period of our lives. The trial and moments live on and echo through inspiring TV shows, radio, written word and podcasts to this very day. Even WWE spoofed the car chase at Mania 12.
The impact OJ and his trial had on media, media coverage of court trials, discussions on race, discussion on privilege, celebrity culture etc. cannot be overstated.
So yeah, very confusing time, and head is a shed.
